Why your period might be talking to you.
Heavy periods. Periods that show up early. A cycle that feels louder than it used to.
We tend to treat these as isolated problems — something to manage, medicate, or ignore. But in the body, nothing happens in isolation.
Your period is made of blood. And blood, in the language of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is Yin — the substance that nourishes, cools, moistens, and restores you. It’s also the receptive, feminine part of you. The part that receives rest. Receives care. Receives warmth.
Here’s the thing: Yin isn’t unlimited. It’s built slowly, through rest, warmth, nourishment, and slowing down. And it’s drained quickly — by overwork, by chronic stress, by not sleeping enough, by staying cold, by pushing through exhaustion because that’s what we’ve been taught to do.
When Yin runs low, the body doesn’t stay quiet about it. Periods can come early. They can come heavy. Because there isn’t enough Yin left to hold and regulate the blood the way it’s meant to.
And underneath the physical, something else happens too. When we are depleted, stressed, under-rested — the receptive part of us closes. We stop letting ourselves be nourished, held, taken care of. We keep giving because that feels safer than receiving. And the body keeps score.
This isn’t about eating more “cooling” foods and calling it done. It’s about actually slowing down enough for your body to rebuild what it has spent. Warmth over cold. Rest over pushing. Receiving over always doing.
Your cycle is one of the most honest messengers you have. When it changes, it’s worth listening — not just treating the bleeding, but asking what your Yin, your blood, your receptive self actually needs right now.
A soft place to land starts with letting yourself receive one.

"We’re not attracted to what we want. We’re attracted to what we know."
Marine Selenee

We run away from what we want, hoping that what we know will eventually become what we want.

Such is the complexity of being human.

What is the Know? Our family, our heritage, our first identity. Our coping mechanisms, the way our nervous system learned to keep us safe, everything we understood in order to be loved, seen, and heard. The Know is our heritage, our past, our childhood, the first container, the first system we ever belonged to.

Adolescence is the passage between Know and Want. It goes best when our parents can hold the walls steady while we move through it, and that takes real strength on their part.

When that happens, the Want phase comes more easily. When it doesn't, you're left tossed between Know and Want, and that tension follows you into adulthood.

The Want is you. Your identity, your own definition of life, love, health, wealth. It's your essence, your alignment, the understanding that your Want might unsettle your family, might even estrange you from it, but that this may be the only real path to growing up. It means accepting that you are not here to please your parents, that you owe them nothing, that you can hold your limitations as a son or daughter and still keep reaching for what you want.

The Know is familiar, even when it's hell. We know how to survive it, there's no surprise left in it. The Want is different. We don't know how to hold it, because it's new: falling for someone outside your family's environment, religion, or culture; choosing a man who isn't violent like your father, but safe; choosing a country your homeland once went to war with; choosing peace in your relationship when your family's history has only ever known the war of the roses.

The list goes on. And often, you don't need to break the whole pattern, you just need to make it yours. That's the moment you know you're finally living your own life, and no one else's.

So maybe what you want is hiding inside that discomfort. It's unfamiliar, it doesn't look like what you imagined marrying, loving, building a life with, but maybe it's better than the familiar ever was.

So why not try it this summer.

Your body isn't broken. It's protecting you.
Let's talk about something nobody says out loud.
We live in a world that tells women their fertility is a personal failure. That if pregnancy isn't happening, something must be wrong with you. Your hormones. Your eggs. Your body. Your timing.
But what if the real question isn't why aren't you getting pregnant — but what is your body trying to protect you from?
Here's what I've learned after years of working with women through an Endobiogeny lens: the body doesn't malfunction randomly. It is always, always making an intelligent decision.
And one of the most intelligent decisions it can make is to not create a life in an environment it doesn't consider safe.
Survival mode and fertility don't coexist.
When your nervous system is in chronic stress — when cortisol is running the show, when your adrenals are depleted, when your body genuinely believes it is in a state of threat — reproduction becomes a biological luxury it cannot afford.
This is not a flaw. This is ancient, intelligent programming. In times of famine, war, or danger, the body suppresses ovulation, disrupts progesterone, and creates an internal environment that is inhospitable to conception. Not to punish you. To protect you. And the baby that doesn't yet exist.
The problem is that your body cannot distinguish between being chased by a predator and being chronically overwhelmed, undernourished, overworked, emotionally depleted, and living in a world saturated with endocrine-disrupting chemicals.
The toxic environment nobody talks about.
We talk about fertility supplements. Fertility diets. Fertility tracking apps. And yes, all of these have their place.
But we rarely talk about:
The xenoestrogens in plastics, cosmetics, and food packaging that quietly disrupt hormonal signaling. The chronic cortisol from a nervous system that never gets to truly rest. The gut inflammation that impairs nutrient absorption and disrupts the gut-hormone axis. The mineral deficiencies — zinc, magnesium, selenium — that are foundational to reproductive health. The EMF exposure, the processed food, the sleep deprivation, the emotional load that women carry silently and call normal.
This is not about blame. It is about honesty.
We are asking women's bodies to create life in conditions that are, in many ways, hostile to it. And then we call the body's refusal a problem.
What if it's wisdom?
What if your body is not failing you — but telling you something important? That it needs safety before it can welcome life. That it needs nourishment before it can give nourishment. That the nervous system needs to exhale before it can open to something as profound and vulnerable as carrying another human being.
In Family Constellations, we sometimes see fertility challenges connected to unresolved stories in the lineage — a mother who didn't want to be a mother, an ancestor who lost a child, a fear of repeating a painful pattern. The body carries these stories too.
In Endobiogeny, we look at the whole terrain — the endocrine system, the nervous system, the gut, the liver — and ask: what are the conditions inside this body right now? And what does it need to feel safe enough to conceive?
The answer is almost never just a supplement or a protocol.
It is usually: safety. Rest. Nourishment. The resolution of something that has been held too long. A nervous system that is no longer running on emergency.
This is not about giving up. It is about going deeper.
If you are struggling with fertility, I want you to hear this clearly: your body is not your enemy. It is doing the most loving thing it knows how to do — waiting until the conditions are right.
The work is not to force it. The work is to create the environment in which it feels safe enough to say yes.
That work is possible. And it starts not with a fertility clinic — though there is a place for that — but with the question: what does my body need to feel safe?
Answer that question honestly. And start there.

I know you don't want me to tell you that your stress is (mostly) responsible for your issues. The problem is that cortisol (the stress hormone) is a hormone that can do damage. When it stays elevated too long, it throws almost your entire hormonal system into a cascade of dysfunction.
BUT, I want to highlight that you need cortisol and stress, it's when it becomes chronic, when you're stuck in your orthosympathic mode (fight or flight), that it becomes detrimental to your health.

1. Your thyroid It blocks the conversion of T4 to T3, the active hormone. Your bloodwork can look "normal" and yet you're tired, cold, and losing hair.
2. Your progesterone Cortisol and progesterone share the same raw material (pregnenolone). Under chronic stress, your body prioritizes cortisol. Hence the PMS and anxiety before your period.
3. Your gut It weakens your intestinal lining and throws off your microbiome. Result: more inflammation, more bloating.
4. Your sleep Your cortisol should drop in the evening to make room for melatonin. Under chronic stress, it stays elevated. Hence those 3am wake-ups.
5. Your blood sugar It pushes your liver to release sugar continuously, which exhausts your pancreas and encourages abdominal fat storage.
6. Your immunity From being overexposed, your immune cells stop responding well. Result: more infections, more chronic inflammation.

But again, find someone who will actually listen to you and see you as a whole person, not just one symptom. And I can also be that person for you, through Endobiogeny.

Running After Love

There are childhoods where love isn’t given — it’s earned.

Where you have to grow up faster than your age, understand before you have the words, shape yourself into what the other person needs before you even know who you are.

That child learns a silent rule: I am loved when I make the effort.

And that rule doesn’t stay behind in childhood. It follows you. It settles into your friendships, your love stories, every relationship where the silence lasts a little too long.

An unanswered text. A distance you don’t understand. And suddenly it’s not the adult who’s feeling this — it’s that child again, running, shape-shifting, becoming what the other person might want, before even asking if they deserve it.

This isn’t oversensitivity. It’s a nervous system that learned, early on, to scan for the smallest sign of withdrawal — because back then, missing it cost too much.

Healing isn’t about no longer feeling. It’s learning to tell the difference: is this today’s situation asking for this effort — or is it the child who’s afraid of not being enough?

Love that has to be earned isn’t love. It’s a debt you keep repaying, and it never clears.

You don’t have to run anymore.

THE POWER OF TESTOSTERONE
Testosterone gets reduced to one narrow idea, but this hormone is really part of a bigger story of vitality. It shapes energy, motivation, muscle repair, mood, libido, metabolic health, and physical resilience. And like every hormone, it doesn't work in isolation — it's shaped by sleep, stress, blood sugar, protein intake, mineral status, alcohol, movement, and nervous system health.

The science behind the summer-testosterone connection offers a window into what's shifting in nature, and in us, right now. Both men and women need to nourish their inner fire to maintain baseline vitality. Low spark, flat mood, workouts that leave you unable to recover, sleep that doesn't leave you rested, dimmed libido, fading creative drive — these can all be signals that something in your hormonal terrain has shifted.

Support starts with the basics: quality sleep, strength training, enough protein, healthy fats, zinc-rich foods, magnesium, sunlight, and adaptogenic herbs traditionally used for stamina and resilience. Vitality isn't a hack — it's the baseline rhythm you return to.

Cortisol: testosterone's primary antagonist

Chronically elevated stress — the pattern most modern schedules produce — competes directly with your vital energy reserves. Multiple randomized controlled trials on KSM-66 ashwagandha show strong evidence for supporting a balanced stress response and greater physical stamina. Stabilize the stress response, and the body's natural vitality signals wake back up.

This applies to everyone: testosterone isn't a male-only hormone. It shapes libido, bone density, muscle synthesis, mood, and cognitive clarity across all genders. In women, declining testosterone during perimenopause is increasingly recognized as a major factor behind shifts in energy and mood. The solar herbs in this collection support hormonal terrain for everyone — click the link below to learn more about why we all need the great T.

Women don’t just survive trauma — they adapt to it.

Not by bouncing back to who they were before, but by building something new around what happened. In the nervous system. In the way they love. In the stories they pass down without even realizing it.

This isn’t about being tougher than anyone else. It’s about generations of women quietly holding what no one else would carry — and somehow still finding a way to show up differently for the next one.

That’s not weakness dressed up as strength. That’s adaptation, in real time, across a bloodline.

The work now isn’t to keep carrying it forever. It’s to finally let it be seen — so the next generation inherits a little less weight, and a little more ease.

"Wherever you are in your life — moving fast, moving slow, or just beginning to move again — you are still in motion. And that is enough." Marine Selenee

Reflecting on the last seven months. My birthday is coming up in two weeks, and I remember expecting the start of this year to feel fast, full speed. A new cycle. The Year of the Horse. And yet, somehow, it still felt like being a pony.

And despite my love for ponies, I found myself longing to feel like a horse, galloping on the beach, in the mountains, in that complete freedom and symbiosis I remember so well with my favorite animal. Untamed, no matter what. Feeling everything fully, even the parts that gave us a hard time when we weren't present.

But still, it didn't feel fast enough. I have big projects underway, and it has felt like the universe has been testing me for the past two years. Then I paused. I really looked at it. And even though there were no dramatic leaps, I realized I had still been moving, for six months now. I decided to move out of my house. To bet on a new business. To trust that this next chapter will meet me exactly where I am.

Because movement is everything. Movement is life. And as long as you wake up every morning, you are already doing it.

It's the same with therapy. Sometimes the benefits are invisible and yet they're happening. Slowly, surely, moving through the body. Freeing emotions and words that were never expressed. And then, one day, out of nowhere, the shell cracks. Tears of relief arrive. And in that moment, you realize: even in the invisible, there was movement all along.

I worked through a lot of stagnation this past year, physically and emotionally. And the moment I reconnected with movement, things began to clarify. I started trusting the path again. Surrendering to the invisible plan that, no matter what, unfolds through movement.
So if right now it still feels like a "what is even happening" kind of season, you are not alone. We all feel stagnant sometimes. But trust the invisible. It doesn't need to be big to be magical. It doesn't need to make sense right away. It just needs to be embraced.
During a recent ritual with a few powerful women, I chose the element of Air, the Great Wind, to open the path, clear the road, and finally feel free in that new wind. North, south, east, west, it doesn't matter which direction, as long as you keep moving. Expanding. Not ruminating. Not stagnant.

Life is yours. Trust the flow of it.

Let's embrace it, even in this Miami heat. I keep reaching for fresh air through the trees, through the wind, through the rain that feels like a deep cleansing after all that sweat.

Wishing you a summer where you let Life guide you through water, spirit, fire, ether, wood, or all of them at once.

Pick your element. And trust.

It's here. It's yours.

For decades, your hormones were doing a job you never saw.
Quietly absorbing the anxiety. The identity shifts. The grief you hadn’t processed. The old trauma. Holding all of it so your nervous system didn’t have to meet it alone.
Then the buffer lifts.
And suddenly the same email, the same conflict, the same ordinary stress — lands harder. Not because you’ve become more anxious as a person. Because estrogen feeds GABA, your brain’s calming chemistry, and as it declines, that calm gets harder to access.
This is biology. Not character.
But here’s what nobody tells you: it’s not one wave of “something is wrong.” It’s five distinct layers — anxiety, identity, grief, relational strain, old trauma — stacked on top of each other and finally asking to be met. Named separately, each one becomes workable.
And this is exactly where I live in my work. Not choosing between “it’s hormones” and “it’s deeper” — because both are true, always.
I do both. I am both.
Endobiogeny and the deeper terrain underneath it. The body and the story it’s been quietly carrying.
You’re not falling apart. You’re finally being asked to meet what was always there — with more capacity than you think.
