"I had no clue, no dream it would be this impactful in society."

Dr. Charlie Sand helped write the national guidelines that shaped stroke care, led Florida's 2004 Stroke Act, and joined the Florida Stroke Registry advisory committee when Dr. Ralph Sacco founded it in 2011.

His throughline across all of it: it was never about one treatment. It's about the infrastructure — a system ready for whatever comes next, this year or fifty years from now. And that system, he says, is the hundreds of people who show up to share ideas and carry them home.

"So rewarding to be part of the Florida Stroke Registry. I'm honored and privileged to still be part of that."
