Recent SJC decision in Commonwealth v. Adams SJC rules if you receive a suspension notice of your LTC/FID, the police have discretion as to weather your fi****ms must be immediately surrendered. If they demand you surrender them immediately you have no duty to allow them into your home without a search warrant. That said, once served with the suspension notice, you are in violation of Chapter 269-10, police can “freeze the scene” and will have probable cause to for a search warrant to come into your home.

My recommendation is that you voluntarily surrender the fi****ms, consult an attorney, and file an appeal in district court with 90 days.

Shotgun/Rifle racks in pick up trucks are not per se illegal in Massachusetts, but traveling with a rifle or shotgun in the rack is very illegal. All Rifles and shotguns carried on a public way must be a)unloaded & b)in a locked container.

The Commonwealth has just passed a law re-defining a “firearm”. The Commonwealth’s definition now includes electronic control weapons, commonly referred to as “stun guns”. If you have an LTC you can now buy and possess stun guns.

A smaller caliber in a compact or sub-compact frame doesn't necessarily translate to a smoother, "easier", firearm to shoot.
