Confidence doesn't come back all at once after vision loss. It comes back in pieces, one small win at a time.

Hadley's Adjusting and Coping Together series looks at the emotional side of vision loss and ways to rebuild self-esteem. It's a resource worth sharing with anyone navigating this, whether that's you, a family member, or a friend.

Watch here: https://hadleyhelps.org/workshops/adjusting-and-coping-together/self-esteem

There's no right time to ask for help with vision loss. Some people reach out right away. Others wait years. Both are okay.

FLVBS works with clients across Florida on orientation and mobility, assistive technology, independent living skills, and braille, whenever you're ready to start.

A free consultation is a good first step, no pressure, just a conversation.

Happy Independence Day from the FLVBS team!

Here's to celebrating the freedoms that make days like today possible, and to the work we do year round helping more people experience that same independence.

We hope everyone is having a safe, fun-filled day!

is a good moment to recognize a group of educators who rarely get enough visibility: Teachers of the Visually Impaired.

TVIs provide specialized instruction that makes academic access possible for students who are blind or have low vision — from Braille literacy and assistive technology to orientation within the school environment. Their work operates at the intersection of education, rehabilitation, and adaptive technology, and it directly affects long-term outcomes for the students they serve.

FLVBS works alongside TVIs and educational teams to provide the assistive technology training and support that students with visual impairments need. If you are a TVI or work with one, we are a resource worth knowing.

Students with Cortical Visual Impairment often have measurably good eye function but significant difficulty using their vision in educational settings. Standard literacy approaches do not account for how CVI affects visual processing, which means many students go underserved without the right support.

Teachers of the Visually Impaired who specialize in CVI can make a significant difference. At FLVBS, we work with students and educational teams to provide the specialized instruction and assistive technology training that supports genuine academic access.

If you work with students who have CVI or suspect a student may have an undiagnosed visual processing condition, we are a resource worth knowing.
