Legislative Fund Grants provide funding to support state advocacy efforts that advance and protect Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant practice, including licensure, practice expansion, legislative and regulatory advocacy, coalition building, lobbyist or consultant support, and other approved advocacy initiatives.

Good news for CAA students: Anesthesiologist Assistant programs are now included in interim federal guidance treating certain programs as professional degrees for student loan limit purposes.

This follows recent legal action challenging the Department of Education’s narrowed professional-degree definition. While the court’s stay remains in effect, eligible CAA students may access the higher professional-degree federal loan limits.

This is an important and positive development for CAA students, CAA education programs, and the future anesthesia workforce.

However, this is not a final resolution. Litigation remains ongoing, and AAAA is closely monitoring the issue and evaluating continued advocacy pathways.
