On the menu this week at Cooking Club

Tortilla Soup 🥣

My favorite classes to teach are the recipes where kids are not quite sure how they’re going to feel about the finished product, but they’re curious enough to try it, and usually are delightfully surprised. This recipe was exactly that.

Stop wasting money on fruit&vegetable cleaner

Use 3 simple ingredients I guarantee you already have in your house.

All you need is
1 cup distilled white vinegar
4 cups of water (or more- make sure to cover fruits and vegetables completely)
1 tbsp of baking soda

Allow firmer fruits and vegetables (carrots, potatoes, etc.) to sit in the solution for 10-15 minutes before rinsing off with cold water

For softer fruits (like strawberries, peaches, etc.) leave in the solution for only a few minutes before rinsing off

Dry fruits and vegetables completely before prepping or storing!

A new session of Cooking Club means all new recipes.

7 weeks = 7 new recipes

So much prep and planning behind the scenes! Choosing recipes that can be completed in an hour that kids actually like is no small feat.

Fall recipe ⓛⓞⓐⓓⓘⓝⓖ

Anyone else absolutely obsessed with fall flavors?!

👇Get ready to add this veggie dish to your weekly rotation

1• Dice up 4-5 small sweet potatoes
2• Trim the ends off the brussel sprouts and slice them in half (I used a whole bag from Trader Joe’s)
3• Cut 2 bell peppers in long thin slices
4• Toss veggies in 1 tbsp of olive oil, 1 tsp of pure maple syrup, and sprinkle with salt and pepper
5• Bake in a 425 degree oven for 45-60 minutes

Use as weeknight side or add a protein and make a large harvest bowl!

🌱Nature is a great teacher

🥕These two carrot tops were chopped and rooted in water at the exact same time, but have their own journey of growth

This is a great nature activity to try with your little one at home. It takes little to no effort and it shows them how beautiful and incredible nature truly is

You can root these stems in soil and grow more carrots! What a cool visualization of the lifecycle of a vegetable.
