When our community gets the call, they answer. ❤️🩸 After hearing about the blood emergency, father and son duo Jim and Mark didn't hesitate to make appointments at their nearest blood drive.

As first-time donors, they felt there was no better time to give. Plus, Jim, a retired firefighter, understands firsthand how critical blood donations are during emergencies, and together he and Mark chose to make a lifesaving difference.

Some things are just better with a friend. ❤️ Reyna stopped by our donor center and rolled up her sleeve for the very first time, and she brought her friend and fellow nurse, Jessica, along for the experience!

Every donation has the power to help patients in need and give families hope — especially during a blood emergency, when supplies run low and every unit counts. CTBC Declares Summer Blood Emergency 🚨

The blood supply is critically low, with less than two days supply. Summer blood donations are down 30% and compounded by the Fourth of July holiday and extreme weather.

All blood types are needed, especially A-, B-, and type O, the most critical blood type used in emergency care. We have not seen collection levels this low since the Covid-19 pandemic.

✅ Fact: Many people with tattoos can donate blood!

If you've been putting off donating because of your ink, there's a good chance you're eligible. Policies have changed over the years, and having tattoos doesn't automatically disqualify you from giving blood.

Even at 95 years old, Joseph continues to show up for his community. For decades, he has been rolling up his sleeve to help patients in need, proving that generosity, compassion, and community spirit have no age limit.

At his most recent donation, Joseph celebrated an incredible milestone — his 275th blood donation! To mark the occasion, multiple generations of his family surprised him at the donor center, and the phlebotomists who have cared for him over the years couldn't miss the celebration either.

Need a break from the heat? Visit one of our donor centers to stay cool, relax in the A/C, donate blood or platelets, and help ensure lifesaving blood products remain available for patients in need.
