George L. Givens
October 10, 1943 ~ May 17, 2026 (age 82)

George Lewis “Buster” Givens, age 82, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, in Middletown, New York, with his loving family by his side.

Born on October 10, 1943, in Covington, Virginia, George was raised by his late parents, Lonnie and Evelyn Givens. Growing up alongside his six siblings in a humble home, he learned early that while material wealth may have been limited, love, faith, and strength were abundant. Those values shaped the man he became and were lessons he proudly passed on to his children and grandchildren.

After moving to New York, George dedicated more than 25 years of service to the Town of Wallkill Department of Public Works. Following retirement, George and his beloved wife Carol returned to Virginia. During those years, he could often be found riding around town in either his sports car or his truck, or simply walking wherever he needed to go. He loved spending time hunting with his brother Bubby, fishing, and was always happiest when delivering food and checking in on the people he loved. As they grew older, George and Carol made the decision to return to New York so they could be close to their family and watch their great-grandchildren grow, a role that brought George tremendous pride and joy.

George is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Givens of Middletown, NY; his daughters, Lori Givens and her husband Tom of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, and Tammie Miller and her husband John of Middletown, NY; his grandsons, Tim Treacy Jr. and Tyler Treacy and his wife Carissa, all of Bloomingburg, NY; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Olivia Treacy and Maverick Treacy of Bloomingburg, NY.

He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Lee Dixon of Meadow Bridge, WV; Brenda and Ronnie Howard of Covington, VA; and Mary Ann and Eddie Watson of Covington, VA; as well as his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Susan Givens and Lonnie and Susan Givens, all of Covington, VA.

George was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Givens Webb of Covington, VA.

A memorial service will be held this summer in Covington, Virginia.

The family welcomes donations to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan County.
