🚨 BREAKING FITNESS NEWS: Your stomach still hasn’t gotten the memo.

You can do 100 crunches.

500 crunches.

Heck, you can become the undisputed heavyweight champion of crunches.

But they still won’t let you choose where your body loses fat.

Crunches train your abs. They don’t selectively burn the fat covering them.

So what’s the better plan?

💪 Train your core to make it stronger.
🏋️ Strength train your entire body.
🥗 Get your nutrition under control.
🚶 Stay consistently active.
📉 Reduce overall body fat over time.

That’s how you stop chasing one exercise and start building a complete strategy.

Stronger abs? Crunch away.

Less belly fat? That’s a bigger plan.

And if you’re over 45 and tired of bouncing between fitness tricks that never seem to produce lasting results, that’s exactly where I can help.

I help busy adults build strength, improve how they move, and create a realistic plan they can actually stick with.

📍 Private one-on-one training in Midland Park, NJ.

📩 Send me a message and let’s talk about where you are, where you want to go, and the smartest way to get there.

And if you know somebody still trying to crunch away their belly fat…

send them the news before they start set #37. 😂

Starting again doesn’t mean starting over.

Sometimes life gets busy. Routines change. Things that were important to us get pushed aside.

The hardest part usually isn’t doing the work. It’s deciding that today is the day you start again.

You don’t have to make up for lost time.
You don’t have to be where you used to be.
You just have to take the next step.

Progress doesn’t require perfection. It requires a beginning.

Today was mine.

💣 TRANSFORMATION TRUTH BOMB THURSDAY

MYTH: If I don’t have an hour to work out, it doesn’t count.

That belief has probably cost people more workouts than almost anything else.

You don’t need 60 perfect minutes.

You need enough time to do something useful.

20 focused minutes.

30 purposeful minutes.

Strength train.

Move with purpose.

Be consistent.

That’s how progress gets built.

The workout you can do will always beat the one you keep skipping because you don’t have enough time.

💥 TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

If you’ve got 20 minutes today, use them.

Then come back and comment “DONE.”

And if you’re over 45 and want a realistic plan built around your actual schedule, message me “STRONG.”

Because…

YOUR STRONGEST YEARS AREN’T BEHIND YOU.

THEY’RE WAITING TO BE BUILT.

🚨 FITNESS CRIMES DIVISION — CASE FILE #015

THE SORENESS SEEKER

Some people finish a workout and ask:

“Am I getting stronger?”

Others wake up the next morning, attempt to walk down the stairs and think:

“YES. NOW THAT WAS A WORKOUT.” 😂

Meet Walt.

Walt has one very simple way of deciding whether yesterday’s workout worked:

If he’s sore, it was good.

If he’s REALLY sore?

Even better.

And if he wakes up feeling perfectly fine?

Apparently somebody needs to answer for this. 🚔

That’s enough to bring Detectives Fitsky & Stretch onto the case.

But underneath the comedy is a mistake I see all the time:

We confuse how hard a workout felt with how effective it actually was.

There’s nothing wrong with being sore after training. New exercises, increased demands and different training stimuli can absolutely leave you feeling it afterward.

But soreness isn’t a report card.

Eventually Fitsky asks Walt one question that changes the entire investigation:

“Progress?”

And later:

“Then why are you measuring pain?”

💥

That’s the case.

Your workout doesn’t need to punish you to count.

The better questions are:

Are you getting stronger?

Are you moving better?

Can you do something today that you couldn’t do before?

Are you recovering well enough to keep training consistently?

Because the goal isn’t to prove how badly you can make yourself feel.

The goal is progress.

As Fitsky puts it:

“Progress feels better than soreness.”

🚔 CASE CLOSED.

👇 How do you judge whether you had a great workout?

09/01/2026

Stop waiting to feel motivated.

That’s one of the biggest traps I see people fall into with fitness.

You tell yourself you’ll start when work settles down.
When you’re less tired.
When life gets easier.
When you finally feel motivated.

But at 45 and beyond, life rarely hands you the perfect week.

And that’s the problem.

If your plan depends on motivation, eventually motivation wins.

You don’t need seven workouts. You don’t need to completely overhaul your life.

Start with something you can actually repeat:

Put two strength sessions on your calendar this week—and treat them like appointments.

Because the goal isn’t one incredible workout.

It’s becoming the person who stops starting over.

If you’re 45+ and you’re tired of trying to figure this out on your own, message me “PLAN.” We’ll talk about your goals, your schedule and what a realistic approach could look like for you.

Motivation gets you started.
Consistency keeps you capable.

45 & Strong. Train with purpose.

🎬 ASK BURT: Do I Really Need to Be Sore After a Workout for It to Count?

If you’re not sore the next day… was it even a good workout? 🤔

A lot of people still use soreness as their workout report card.

Can’t sit down without making a noise?
Must’ve crushed legs. 😂

But soreness usually tells you that your body experienced something different or unfamiliar—not necessarily that your workout was better.

What matters more?

Getting stronger over time.
Adding reps.
Adding appropriate resistance.
Improving your control and ex*****on.

Soreness can happen.

But soreness isn’t the goal. Progress is.

This week I asked Burt the question—and, naturally, he had his own way of explaining it. 😂

SORE ISN’T THE SCORE.

What do YOU use to judge a great workout—soreness, strength, energy, performance, or something else? Drop it below.

The last on location post of the week, Harvey Cedars, LBI EDITION:

Reporting live from Harvey Cedars, Long Beach Island — where officials have confirmed that taking a vacation does not require a fitness funeral.

Witnesses report people enjoying dinners out, ice cream, cocktails… and — perhaps most disturbing — sitting completely still on the beach. Fitness experts are urging the public to remain calm.

Here’s the truth: a week of enjoying your life will not erase months of consistency. Your strength doesn’t vanish in seven days — that’s not how the body works. The real danger was never the seven days of vacation. It’s letting seven days turn into seven weeks of “I’ll get back to it.”

So walk. Swim. Play with your kids. Eat some protein. Drink some water. And yes… have the ice cream.

The goal isn’t to come home fitter. The goal is to come home refreshed — and get back to work.

Know somebody on vacation right now feeling guilty about the ice cream? Tag them. Tell them the officials said it’s fine.

And when you’re ready to build a plan you can actually come home to, book your free consultation at smkfit.com.

Follow Breaking Fitness News for a new myth every Friday.

💣 TRANSFORMATION TRUTH BOMB THURSDAY — LBI EDITION 🌊

MYTH: Vacation ruins your fitness progress.

Nope.

You don’t need to choose between enjoying your vacation and taking care of yourself.

Walk the beach.

Swim.

Drink your water.

Get some protein.

And yes… enjoy the ice cream. 🍦

The goal isn’t to recreate your normal routine while you’re away.

It’s to keep a few simple habits that travel well—and then get right back to your routine when you get home.

Because fitness shouldn’t prevent you from enjoying your life.

It should help you enjoy MORE of it.

💥 TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

What’s ONE healthy habit you keep while you’re on vacation?

👇 Drop yours in the comments.

And if you’re tired of fitness plans that only work when life is perfect, message me “STRONG.”

Let’s build something that works in real life.

YOUR STRONGEST YEARS AREN’T BEHIND YOU.
THEY’RE WAITING TO BE BUILT.

Fitsky & Stretch
🚨🏖️ FITNESS CRIMES DIVISION — CASE FILE #014

THE VACATION COMPENSATOR

The family wanted a week at the Jersey Shore.

Dad apparently wanted a training camp. 😂

Walking lunges down the hallway.

Countertop push-ups while the coffee brewed.

Sit-ups while everybody waited to leave.

And according to eyewitness testimony…

eight sets of calf raises while making hamburgers.

He burned the burgers.

At that point, Detectives Fitsky & Stretch had no choice but to intervene. 🚔😂

But underneath all the ridiculousness was something very real:

He was afraid to stop.

Six months of consistency had finally gotten him somewhere—and he was convinced one week away from his normal routine might take it all back.

A lot of people do some version of this.

They feel guilty missing workouts.

They try to “make up” for vacation meals.

They worry that backing off means they’re losing momentum.

But fitness isn’t supposed to become another thing you’re afraid to step away from.

You didn’t build six months of progress so you could be afraid of seven days.

Walk the beach.

Swim.

Ride a bike.

Play with your kids.

Train if you genuinely want to.

Or sit in the damn beach chair. 😂

A week doesn’t define your consistency.

What you repeatedly do over months and years does.

Your fitness should help you enjoy your life—not keep you from living it.

And whatever you do…

🔥 DON’T BURN THE VACATION BURGERS.

👇 Are you good at relaxing on vacation—or are you secretly a Vacation Compensator too?

45 & Strong: LBI BEACH EDITION

You weren’t training for the gym.
You were training for your life.

For years, fitness gets sold to us through numbers.

How much can you bench?
How much weight did you lose?
How many calories did you burn?

But somewhere after 45, I think the definition of strength needs to get bigger.

Because nobody really cares how much you can lift if your body starts preventing you from doing the things you actually love.

Walking through the sand.

Carrying the chairs.

Getting down on the ground—and getting back up.

Going into the water with your kids.

Traveling. Playing. Exploring. Keeping up.

Saying YES instead of, “You guys go ahead.”

That’s what we’re really training for.

After more than 20 years of coaching, I’ve learned that the gym isn’t the destination.

Life is.

And the work you do today is about protecting your ability to participate in it tomorrow.

If you’re 45+ and you’ve noticed yourself becoming a little less strong, a little less mobile, or simply less confident in what your body can do, don’t wait until those little changes become big limitations.

You don’t need to become a gym person.

You need a plan that helps you keep being you.

Message me “MY LIFE” and let’s talk. No pressure. We’ll look at where you are, what you want to keep doing, and what getting stronger could look like for your life.

Train with purpose.
Protect your future.
Your future self is counting on you.
