I’ve been quiet for a couple of months — knee surgery will do that to you. But I’m back on my feet, and there’s work waiting.

School in Cap-Haïtien starts October 1. Haiti Child Thrive Foundation is enrolling our first class of 30 children — and 24 of them are still waiting on a sponsor.

Here’s what sponsorship actually means with us: $940 covers one child for the entire year. Tuition, a new uniform, books, a meal every school day, and full healthcare through our hospital partner. Not a portion of it. All of it.

Angie grew up in these same streets. I’ve spent 16 years working in Haiti as a nurse. We built this foundation to do one thing well: get a child through school healthy, fed, and ready for a future.

6 children are covered. 24 to go. 71 days until the first bell.

If you can sponsor a child — or give any amount toward one — here’s where to do it:

For two weeks, we went quiet.

Here's why: I was tired.

Tired of paying tuition for sixteen years and watching brilliant Haitian kids graduate with nowhere to go. One student found a real career. One.

So we stopped. We rebuilt. And what we're coming back with is bigger than tuition checks.

We're building the jobs. Right there, in Cap-Haïtien. A Tech Center where our graduates don't just finish — they get hired.

Same kids. New ending.

What does your donation actually do?

Here’s how 100% of your support reaches children in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti:

$25 — Feeds a child nutritious meals at school for a month
$50 — Covers one month of tuition assistance for a child
$75 — Provides a full school uniform kit
$100 — Sponsors one child’s full
monthly support (meals + supplies + tuition)

Every dollar goes directly to programs. We process donations through Zeffy, which means 100% of what you give reaches the children of northern Haiti — no platform fees deducted.

Before Haiti Child Thrive Foundation had a name, it had a quiet beginning.

Our co-founder Randy, a retired infusion nurse who has spent 16 years volunteering in northern Haiti, started doing something simple: paying tuition out of his own pocket, with help from some friends, for children whose families couldn’t afford it. No organization. No nonprofit status. No grant funding. Just a man who couldn’t look the other way.

One child became five. Five became twenty. Eventually, more than 200 children had the chance to attend school because of his quiet generosity.

Now we’ve formalized that mission — with a 501(c)3, a Haitian co-founder, a real program structure, and a community that’s been waiting for exactly this. We’re building something lasting. We’d be honored to have you build it with us.

Here’s something we’ve learned in 16 years on the ground in Haiti:

You cannot sustainably help a child without helping their family. That’s why our Family Empowerment Program works alongside parents — not just children.

We offer: Parental education. Vocational training. Microfinance support. Community building.
When a mother gains a marketable skill, the whole family’s future shifts. When parents understand the importance of nutrition and school attendance, children show up consistently. When families are connected to their community, they lift each other.

This is how change becomes permanent — not dependent on outside help, but grown from within.

That’s the Haiti Child Thrive model. And it starts with you believing it’s possible.

Share if you believe in family-centered change.

A hungry child cannot learn. It’s that simple.

In northern Haiti, malnutrition is one of the biggest barriers keeping children from reaching their potential — and it’s one of the most preventable.

Our Nutrition Program provides:
* Daily meals at partner schools
* Support for families
* Support for community gardens
* Nutritional education

A full plate at school doesn’t just fuel a child’s body. It keeps them in their seat, focused, and able to absorb what their teacher is sharing. It also gives families one less impossible choice to make each morning.

For just $25 a month, you can help provide daily meals for a child in Cap-Haïtien.

In Haiti, a school uniform isn’t just clothing. It’s a ticket through the door.

Schools in Haiti turn children away if they don’t arrive in the proper uniform — even if the child
is ready and eager to learn. For families living on a few dollars a day, that uniform might as
well be a wall.

Our Education Support Program tears that wall down.

We provide: School supplies, Uniforms, Tuition assistance, and nutrition support.

We work directly with partner schools in Cap-Haïtien to make sure that when a child shows
up, they stay — and that the quality of teaching meets their potential.

Because education isn’t just a program for us. It’s the foundation of everything.

Some facts about education in Haiti that we can’t ignore:

Haiti has one of the lowest school enrollment rates in the Western Hemisphere. 80% of Haitian schools are private — meaning families must pay fees most cannot afford.

Malnutrition affects nearly 1 in 5 Haitian children, making it nearly impossible to focus and learn even when they do attend school.
These aren’t just statistics. They are children with names and potential, sitting outside classroom doors.

Haiti Child Thrive Foundation was built to change this — one child, one family, one community at a time — in Cap-Haïtien, northern Haiti.

We provide tuition assistance, school supplies, daily nutrition, and family support so children can do more than survive. They can thrive.

Meet Angie — co-founder of Haiti Child Thrive Foundation, and the heart behind everything we do.

Angie grew up in Haiti navigating a system that too often turns children away simply
because their families can’t pay school fees. She knows what it feels like to wonder whether
the classroom door will open for you. That experience didn’t discourage her. It drove her.

Today, Angie channels that same determination into making sure no child in northern Haiti
has to face the barrier she once did. She brings something no outside organization ever
could: she is from this community. She understands it. She is trusted within it.

When we say Haiti Child Thrive is community-led — this is what we mean.

Share this post if you believe every child deserves a chance to learn.

This photo is why Haiti Child Thrive Foundation exists.
For 16 years, I traveled to, and lived in, northern Haiti as a nurse — not as a visitor, but as someone who showed up and got to work. I helped bring two hospitals to life. I sat with patients. And again and again, I watched children miss school — not because they weren’t bright, not because they didn’t want to go — but simply because their families couldn’t afford the fees.

So I started quietly paying tuition out of my own pocket and with donations. One child. Then five. Then fifty. Eventually, more than 200 children had a chance they wouldn’t have had otherwise.
These two young women in the photo graduated. I was there.

That’s when my wife Angie and I knew: it was time to build something bigger. Something that could do together what I could only do so much of alone.

Haiti Child Thrive Foundation is that something. We’re just getting started — and we’d love for you to be part of it.
