Ella M. Bauer

Ella M. Bauer, age 84, of Midland, Michigan, passed away on May 31, 2026, with family and friends attending at her bedside. She was born on September 2, 1941, to the late Albert and Florence (Leppien) Whiddon.

On February 24, 1962, Ella married Leenolan "Lee" Bauer, and they shared life together, until his passing in 1997. Ella is survived by her children, Kimberley (Rodney), Kevin (Sabrina), Kay, and Kelly; her grandchildren James, Jessica, Michael, ShyAnn, Austin, Autumn, Brody, and Jacob; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Barbara, Edna, and Kathryn; and several nieces and nephews. Ella was preceded in death by her husband Lee, her parents, three brothers, two sisters, and two nephews.

Ella found joy in many simple pleasures throughout her life. She enjoyed baking, crafts, bingo, and watching hummingbirds and butterflies. She also enjoyed picking blueberries and strawberries, tending flowers in her garden, and spotting wildlife, especially deer and wild turkeys. A longtime member of Midland Baptist Church, Ella loved attending services and being part of the church community. She also treasured her time at Seasons Adult Daycare, and spending time with family and friends.

A funeral service to honor Ella's life will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Midland Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Payne officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the church before a procession to New Hope Township Cemetery for burial.

Memorial contributions in Ella's honor may be made to Seasons Adult Daycare, Brittany Manor, or Midland Baptist Church.

Alverda L. LaLonde

Alverda L. LaLonde, age 86 of Sanford, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Meridian Acres Assisted Living. She was born in Saginaw on January 26, 1940. Alverda worked as an Executive Manager with Doan and Associates, and enjoyed crafts, ceramics, and painting.

Surviving is her son, Lance LaLonde; grandchild, Tracey LaLonde – Eastman; great grandchild, Braydon Eastman; and siblings, Pat, Jeanie, and Linda. She was preceded in death by her son, Brent LaLonde; grandson, Chase LaLonde; great granddaughter, Bryton LaLonde; and father, Eber Brown.

A graveside service will be held at Midland City Cemetery, Hillcrest Gardens Sections, at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. The LaLonde family is being cared for by Wilson Miller Funeral Home.

Judith Ann Roberson

On May 14, 2026, Judith Ann Roberson passed away peacefully at Primrose Retirement Community, where she was surrounded by the love of her family and caregivers. She was born in Bay City, Michigan on September 16, 1939 to the late Nicholas W. and Ruth A. (Richardson) Howell.

Judy cherished her family and friends deeply, forming connections wherever she went. During her final three weeks at Primrose Retirement Community, she was surrounded by the compassionate nurses and staff who cared for her with great kindness.

Her most cherished moments were spent with her beloved husband of 65 years, her two daughters, and her grandchildren, whether they were playing cards, a trip to the casino or simply enjoying each other’s company.

Judy, along with her husband and family, embarked on numerous camping adventures up north, creating lasting friendships along the way. Her memories will live on with stories around the campfire for years.

A woman of faith, Judy had been a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church since childhood. Her church community held a special place in her heart, and she rarely missed a Sunday, relishing the breakfast and laughter shared with her fellow congregants afterward.

Judy’s memory will be cherished by her husband, Robert B. Roberson; daughters, Julie (Robert) O’Brien and Jodi Zwarych; grandchildren, Alec (Cassy) Mizer, Blaine Mizer, Kelly O’Brien, Kyle Zwarych, Lauryn (Sasa) Kukic; and great grandchild, Ayden Mizer. Judy is also survived by her two brothers, James (Sharon) Howell and Jerald (Cynthia) Howell; many nieces and nephews; and the many wonderful friends she made over the years.

A service to honor Judy’s life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 11:00 am. Her family will be present at the church to greet visitors from 10:00 am until the time of service. Memorial contributions in Judy’s memory may be offered to the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund. The Roberson family is being cared for by Wilson Miller Funeral Home.

Lela "Gayle" Rugenstein, age 90 of Midland, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at her residence surrounded by loving family. She was born in Pontiac, Michigan on May 16, 1935, daughter of the late Russell and Violet A. (Harroun) Hickson. Gayle was a graduate of Pinconning High School, class of 1955, and in 1962 she married the love of her life, the late Joseph "Henry" Rugenstein. Gayle was a lover of music and enjoyed playing golf, bowling, knitting, macramé, and doing crafts.

Gayle is survived by her daughters, Elaine (Steve) Parent, and Lori (Paul) Haduck, and her son, Joe (Kim) Rugenstein; grandchildren, Chad, Lyndsey, Kristyn, Steve, Anna, and Paul; great grandchildren, Ellie, Rosie, Elija, Brilee, Kendyl and Cora; siblings, Russell (Maureen) Hickson, and Karen (Jim) Craft; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Gayle was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Henry" Rugenstein; siblings, Doris Fairholm, Frances Conn, and JoAnne Lawson.

Per the wishes of Gayle, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Wilson Miller Funeral Home.

Marilyn J. Burwick

Marilyn J. Burwick, age 90, of Midland, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026 at Olson Manor.

Born on November 20, 1935, in Flint, Michigan, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Harold and Marion (Hough) Drew. On August 13, 1988, she married Arnold Burwick, and together they shared 30 wonderful years until his passing in 2018.

Marilyn was a cherished member of the Sanford community. She found joy in playing Nickel Bingo at the Sanford Senior Center, riding horses, and spending time with her family and friends. A woman of faith, she was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sanford and an active participant at the Sanford Senior Center.

She is survived by her children, Louis (Sandy) Hand of San Antonio, TX, Shannon (Mickey) Bible of Mooresburg, TN, and Wayne Hand of Iserlohn, Germany; her grandchildren, Tobias V. Bible, Brandon L. Bible, and LeeAnn (Corey) Cottles; and her great-grandchild, Brian J. Cottles. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Arnold; her son, Brian Hand; her stepson Ben Burwick; her siblings Richard Drew, David Drew, Dorothy (Hiram) Thornton, Kathryn Larsen, James Drew, Jack Drew, and Barb Crow; as well as her parents.

The family would like to give special thanks to Olson Manor, and the hospice nurses, Chris and Kelly, for their exceptional compassion and care.

A memorial service to honor Marilyn's life will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sanford with Pastor Christopher Vossler officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A committal service will follow at Jerome Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Marilyn’s name can be made to the Sanford Senior Center, Olson Manor, or St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Ronald Ray Simons, Jr.

Ronald Ray Simons, Jr., aged 74, passed away on May 10, 2026, in Midland, Michigan. Born on October 21, 1951, he was a beloved figure in his community, known for his kindness, humor, and deep love for his family.

Ron honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a testament to his bravery and dedication to his country. Most recently he worked as a landscaper, where he applied his passion for the outdoors and nurturing life.

He leaves behind his wife, Donna (Carmen) Simons, and his children: Dean Simons; Joanne Schnell; Toni (Jeff) Harcourt; Joanna (Jermey) Scherzer; Ronald Simons (Lisa Miller); and Devin (Justin) Doyle. Ron’s legacy will continue to live on through his 20 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. His loss is also deeply felt by his siblings Linda (Mike) Dehn, Edward Simons, Donna Bastuk, Terry Cobb, and Kevin (Annette) Simons, along with his cherished fur babies, Ellie and Luna, and his lifelong friend, Denny McIntyre. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Ray Simons, Sr. and Tilda Viola (Church) Simons, and his sister, Judy Simons.

Ron's hobbies included gardening, bonfires, playing cards, riding his bike, enjoying old-time music, and indulging in fudge bars. These activities reflected his love for simple pleasures and his ability to find joy in everyday moments.

A funeral service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held on May 15, 2026, at 11:00 am at Wilson MILLER Funeral Home, with visitation from 9:00am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made according to the wishes of the family.
