Lois K. Kistler

Lois K. Kistler, 85, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2026, in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on May 29, 1941, in Midland, Michigan, Lois was the daughter of the late Donald and Bertha (Jolfs) Dickinson.

On July 17, 1965, she married Glenn Kistler in Midland, beginning a partnership that spanned 61 years. Together they raised seven children and, for more than 30 years, welcomed others into their home as foster parents, extending care and stability to many.

Family was at the heart of Lois’s life, and she gave herself to it with energy, warmth, and delight. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she especially enjoyed birthdays and family gatherings. She had a gift for bringing people together, and some of the happiest moments in her life were found around a table filled with those she loved. Holiday meals were among her specialties, and she was known for preparing large feasts that made celebrations feel even more abundant.

Lois also expressed her care and creativity through sewing and crafts. She was especially talented at making wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses, using her skill to help mark meaningful occasions in the lives of others. When her children were young, she sewed matching Easter outfits for them and for herself, a beautiful reflection of the joy she found in making things with her hands.

Her life also included faithful service in ministry. In earlier years, Lois led Revivals and Evangelistic services and taught Sunday School. She was licensed as a minister with the Pentecostal Church of God for a time, and her faith remained central throughout her life. That faith was not simply something she held; it shaped the way she served, taught, welcomed, and cared for others over the years. She also enjoyed adventure, including learning to drive buses with Glenn and taking camping trips with their children.

Lois is survived by her husband, Glenn Kistler; her children, Kaylin (Ron) Medford, Sarah (Jim) Skaja, Brian (Shilo) Kistler, Jim Kistler, Phillip Kistler, and Rex Kistler; her grandchildren, Nathan, Alison, Alex, Austin, Avery, Aidan, Addison, Bailey, Scott, Tori, and Ethan; six great-grandchildren; and her brother, Dewey (Marcia “Mouse”) Dickinson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Renee Kistler, and her sisters, Judy, Alice Mogg, and Donna Nowak.

A funeral service to honor Lois’ life will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Wilson Miller Funeral Home, with Pastor Molly Loveall officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Kelly Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial tributes include anything with a cardinal on it or silk flowers.

Tonight was a blast seeing all of the kids and costumes at the Trunk or Treat! Our theme was Harry Potter, with Savanah being a Gryffindor and Tyler a Slytherin. Thanks to the Midland A&W for hosting this event, to the kids and their families who came out, and to those who voted for our car.

Anna Louise Herringshaw

Anna Louise Herringshaw, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2026, at the Candlestone Assisted Living Facility. Born on May 27, 1936, in Midland, Michigan, Anna Louise, known affectionately as Louise, lived a life rich with love, creativity, and kindness. She was the daughter of Anna and Nelson Schroeder and was predeceased by her parents, her siblings Lyle Schroeder and Linda (Schroeder) Crosby, her husband Donald Irving Herringshaw, and her dear son, Jeffrey Donald Herringshaw.

Louise’s journey began in the halls of Midland High School, where she was crowned Homecoming Queen in 1954. It was there that she cultivated a love for life and art that would follow her throughout her years. While in school she worked in her father’s store, Midland Hardware, before dedicating her life to her family and passion for art.

On October 13, 1956, Louise married Donald Herringshaw, the love of her life. Together, they shared 69 wonderful years, filled with joy, laughter, and many friends and family. Their union brought forth a daughter, Debora Louise (Herringshaw) Blesch and son, Jeffrey Donald Herringshaw.

Louise was a gifted, self-taught water color artist who shared her love for art with others through teaching art classes in the Midland Community from 1972 until 2020. Her belief that “whether or not you become a painter is not nearly as important as becoming a sensitive and understanding person, appreciating artistic beauty” resonated with her students and all who knew her. Her creativity extended beyond her art; she delighted in gardening, reading, dancing, playing the piano and singing. Louise’s colorful attire and unique style were a testament to her vibrant spirit.

A devout member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Louise’s faith was a guiding light in her life. Her gentle nature, positive outlook, and radiant smile left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Those who knew her were truly blessed, as her presence made the world a more beautiful and loving place.

Louise is survived by her daughter, Debora Blesch who extends her heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Candlestone Assisted Living, Goddaughter Louise Chen and to all the family and friends who enriched Louise’s life. In accordance with Louise’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date under the care of Wilson Miller Funeral Home in Midland.

In lieu of flowers, Debora kindly suggests donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Louise’s generous spirit and enduring legacy. May her memory continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Ralph Dennis Johnston

Ralph D. Johnston, age 74, passed away on October 19, 2026, in Bay City, Michigan.

Born on March 24, 1952, Ralph made his home in Beaverton, Michigan. For the majority of his working life, he was employed by Ford Motor Company, where he spent many years in a steady and dedicated career.

Ralph is remembered by his daughter, Carrie Thornton; his granddaughter, Zelda Thornton; and many siblings, family members, and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with Carrie and Zelda and was a proud grandfather.

Ralph had many interests that brought him enjoyment throughout his life. He loved golfing and was part of a golf club, where he also volunteered at times. He enjoyed fishing, relaxing, and spending time with friends and family. In his younger years, he rode motorcycles. He was intrigued by outer space and enjoyed watching Star Trek. He was also an avid sports fan who liked watching football and baseball.

Per Ralph’s wishes, cremation has taken place. No services will be held at this time. The Johnston family is being cared for by Wilson Miller Funeral Home.

Grace A. Chase

Grace A. Chase, age 93, of Midland, Michigan, passed away at home on October 15, 2026.

Born on June 19, 1933, Grace was the daughter of the late James and Mary Wade and was one of 15 children. She shared 56 years of marriage with her husband, Richard Chase, until his passing in August 2009.

Grace devoted much of her life to caring for others. Wanting to help people in a meaningful way, she opened a daycare that she operated for more than 40 years. She also served for many years in the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion. Grace was a member of Midland First United Methodist Church, and she also liked the Church of the Straits in Mackinaw City.

Family life and time together were central to Grace’s life. She and Richard enjoyed their second home in Mackinaw City, where for more than 20 years they gave tickets to people on Labor Day for the Mackinaw Bridge Walk. They also kept a trailer on Wixom Lake, where they took their four boys on weekends for boating, snowmobiling, and motorcycle riding.

Grace remained active throughout her life. Her family teased that her energy came from being a farm girl. She worked in her yard nearly every day and sometimes helped in the neighbors’ yards as well. After Richard’s passing, she enjoyed trips to Mackinaw City with Tom and Sue Muto and Bob and Donna Hand. She also enjoyed shopping, bingo, gardening, time with family, nature, sightseeing, watching ships, and bird watching, along with being an avid Detroit Tigers fan.

Grace is survived by her sons, Dan (Vicky) Chase, Dean Chase, and Edwin (Kathi) Chase; grandchildren, Cody Chase, Kyle (Angelle) Chase, Kelli Chase (Adam), and three step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Chase.

A celebration of Grace’s life will be held at Wilson Miller Funeral Home on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Located at 4210 N. Saginaw Rd, Midland, MI 48640. Memorial contributions may be offered to the Wounded Warriors Project.

We are happy to announce that we have expanded our services to include families who experiencing the loss of a beloved pet. We did want to give some facts about our new services.

1. Pets will be kept safe in a different area of the funeral home than humans and be cared for with different equipment.

2. Pets are cremated in a completely separate retort than humans and are done individually to ensure you get only your pet back.

3. You can transport your pet to us or you may call upon us to do the transportation.

4. You can spend a few moments with your pet in one of our chapels to say goodbye.
