We had a wonderful time attending National Night Out in the Village of Prescott this week.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table to say hello, ask questions, and learn more about the services we offer. Events like this are a great reminder of the importance of coming together as a community and building connections.

We appreciate the Village of Prescott and everyone who helped make the evening such a success. We look forward to seeing you again at future community events!

πŸŽ’ Back to school season is here and while the new notebooks are exciting (seriously did you see some of the awesome composition books out this year?!), it's also a time when anxiety and stress can spike for kids AND parents.

Here's how to support your child's mental health this school year:
πŸ’¬ Check in daily- "How was your day?" isn't enough. Try: "What was hard today?"
πŸŒ™ Protect sleep- it's the #1 predictor of emotional regulation in children and teens
🎯 Keep routines - structure is calming for developing minds
❀️ Normalize struggle- let them know it's okay not to always be okay

Partners in Change works with children and teens and we're here to help set the school year up for success ❀

Last week Partners in Change celebrated our clinicians who provide substance use programming for the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC). We are proud to be a part of this collaboration which helps prepare individuals for release from incarceration. According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA), an estimated 65% of prison inmates in the United States have an active substance use disorder. We provide evidence-based group treatment with the goal of improved quality of life and reduced recidivism. Partners in Change is committed to outcome-driven, high quality care regardless of the setting.

If you or someone you know may be experiencing mental health and/or addiction-related concerns, help is available by calling (989)832-2165 or online at https://www.partnersinchangemichigan.com/

A huge thanks to our MDOC clinicians and their important work!

Let's talk about sleep and mental health because they are deeply, undeniably connected.

Poor sleep:
🧠 Amplifies anxiety and depression
😀 Lowers emotional regulation
πŸ’‘ Impairs memory, focus, and decision-making
πŸ” Creates a cycle that worsens mental health

Better sleep habits (sleep hygiene) include:
πŸŒ™ A consistent bedtime (even on weekends)
πŸ“΅ No screens 30-60 min before bed
❄️ A cool, dark, quiet room
🧘 A wind-down ritual: reading, stretching, deep breathing

If anxiety or racing thoughts are robbing your sleep, therapy can help address the root cause. πŸ’› You deserve real rest.

πŸ“… July is almost over, how are you doing, really? Not the "I'm fine" version. The real version. Take 2 minutes right now for a mini check-in:

🧠 Mental: What's been taking up most of my headspace this month?
πŸ’› Emotional: What feelings have I been sitting with lately?
πŸ’ͺ Physical: How has my body been carrying stress?
🌱 Spiritual: What has brought me meaning or purpose?

You don't have to answer perfectly. Just honestly πŸ’›

If what you found in this check-in worries you, please reach out. That's what we're here for. Wishing you a gentle end to July and a hopeful start to August 🌻

πŸ™‹ Normalize this:

- Going to therapy when you're not in crisis.
- Talking to someone before you hit rock bottom.
- Asking for help as a form of self-respect.
- Prioritizing your mental health the same way you would a physical checkup.
- Saying "I'm not okay" to someone who can actually help.

Mental health care isn't a last resort. It's a lifestyle πŸ’› At Partners in Change, we welcome you wherever you are on your journey, whether you're thriving and want to grow, or barely holding on and need a lifeline. Both are welcome. All of it is valid. Let's get started 🌿
