When we think of domestic violence, we often think of physical harm. But domestic violence can also look like coercive control, a pattern of behavior used to dominate a partner's daily life.

This can include:

Financial isolation: Controlling all the money, preventing a partner from working, or controlling the work environment or circumstances.

Isolation: Keeping someone away from friends, family, or support systems; or exploiting pre-existing isolation.

Digital monitoring: Demanding passwords, tracking locations, controlling/monitoring smart home technology or wearables' (e.g. smart watches) activities.

Recognizing the signs is the first step. You are not alone, and you don’t have to navigate this by yourself. 💜

AuDHD can feel like living with a brain that is constantly asking for two opposite things at the same time.

Routine can feel safe… but sticking to it can feel impossible.
Novelty can feel exciting… until it becomes overwhelming.
I may desperately want to join in… while also needing to escape the noise, demands and social energy.

This is the push and pull of AuDHD.

It can look inconsistent from the outside. One day I cope. The next I cannot. I may seek something and then suddenly reject it. I may need support while fiercely wanting independence.

But inconsistency does not mean the need is not real.

This push and pull is one of the reasons I wanted to explore AuDHD in more depth in my 4-page AuDHD Bitesize Guide.

📌 Save this visual to come back to when the contradictions are difficult to understand.

🔄 Share it with someone who needs to see beyond the inconsistency and understand the competing needs underneath.

Have you seen Toy Story 5 yet? Screens are everywhere, and we recognize they aren't going anywhere any time soon. So, what is the right balance? And what is the root of the concern? This article is a great start to understanding. Let's talk!

SECOND OPPORTUNITY - this week, to compliment our newly released A Bitesize Guide to Breaking the Cycle, we reshared this post.

Screens are one of the biggest parenting challenges of our time. Most children (and adults!) know the feeling of wanting “just five more minutes” — but few understand what is actually happening inside the brain when it becomes difficult to switch off.

As conversations around healthy screen habits grow, and with the proposed social media ban bringing renewed attention to children’s online lives, many parents are looking for ways to talk about screens without shame, fear, or endless arguments. Understanding the science can help us move beyond “because I said so” and towards meaningful conversations about balance.

Our latest Curious Conversations visual, The Screen-Dopamine Cycle, helps children understand why screens can feel so rewarding, why stopping can sometimes feel frustrating, and why boundaries are not about punishment but about helping the brain find balance. It is designed to open discussions about screen dependence, self-awareness, and healthy habits in an age-appropriate way.

This visual also complements our latest Bitesize Guide, Breaking the Cycle, which explores practical strategies for reducing screen battles, setting boundaries that work, and supporting children to build healthier relationships with technology.
