💜🏡 Is Your Loved One Prepared for an Emergency?

September is National Preparedness Month, making this a great time to make sure the older adults in our lives have a plan in place.

A few simple steps can make a stressful situation easier:

💜 Keep an updated list of medications
💜 Have emergency contacts easily accessible
💜 Keep important medical information together
💜 Make sure flashlights and emergency supplies are ready
💜 Have a plan for staying connected during an emergency

Preparedness isn’t about expecting something to go wrong — it’s about being ready if it does.

🏡 A little preparation today can make a big difference tomorrow.

💜 5 Signs Your Loved One May Need More Support at Home 🏡

Sometimes the signs that an aging loved one needs additional support can be easy to overlook.

Here are 5 things to watch for:

💜 1. Difficulty managing medications
Missed doses, confusion about medications, or trouble keeping track of prescriptions.

💜 2. Changes in balance or mobility
New difficulty walking, getting around the house, or getting up and down safely.

💜 3. Trouble with everyday tasks
Difficulty preparing meals, bathing, dressing, or keeping up with normal routines.

💜 4. More frequent falls or hospital visits
Repeated falls, ER visits, or hospitalizations may be a sign that additional support is needed.

💜 5. Difficulty managing a health condition
Changes in symptoms or difficulty following a care plan shouldn’t be ignored.

Needing extra support doesn’t mean giving up independence. 💜 Sometimes, the right care can help a loved one remain safe, comfortable, and independent in the home they love.

🏡 Care starts at home.

💜 National Sarcoidosis Awareness Day

Today, we’re raising awareness about sarcoidosis, an inflammatory disease that most commonly affects the lungs and lymph nodes.

For individuals managing sarcoidosis or other chronic conditions, having the right support at home can make a difference. Home health professionals can provide skilled nursing, patient education, symptom monitoring, and support with following the plan of care established by the healthcare team.

At St. Joseph’s Home Health, we’re committed to helping patients manage their health and maintain their quality of life in the comfort of home. 🏡💜

Awareness. Education. Compassionate care.

🧠💜 Feed Your Mind: Caring for Your Brain at Every Age

Some of our St. Joseph’s Home Health team had the opportunity to attend Mind Matters: Caring for Your Brain at Every Age, featuring Dr. Jonathan Singer, Director of the TTUHSC Memory Care Clinic.

This inspiring luncheon focused on the importance of brain health at every stage of life — from protecting memory and maintaining mental clarity to recognizing early signs of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

At St. Joseph’s Home Health, we believe caring for our patients means caring for the whole person, and continuing to learn about the health and well-being of the communities we serve. 💙

Thank you to the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health for bringing our community together for such an important conversation!

🧠 Healthy minds. Informed communities. Compassionate care.

💜 A LITTLE MORE KINDNESS GOES A LONG WAY.

There’s something special about people who make others feel seen, valued, and cared for.

That’s a reminder we’re carrying with us at St. Joseph’s Home Health. Whether we’re caring for a patient at home, spending time with seniors in our community, or simply showing up when someone needs us—kindness matters.

And sometimes, the smallest act of kindness becomes a memory someone carries with them for years. 💜

What’s one kind thing someone has done for you that you’ll never forget?

✨ MEMORIES WORTH CELEBRATING ✨

From one Senior Prom to another, we’ve had the privilege of sharing some beautiful moments with the seniors in our West Texas communities. 💜

The smiles, the laughter, the dancing, and the little moments in between are what memories are made of.

At St. Joseph’s Home Health, we believe caring for seniors goes beyond healthcare. It’s about building relationships, being present in our communities, and celebrating the people we’re honored to serve.

Here’s a look back at some of the special moments we’ve been lucky enough to share. Because sometimes, the best part of a celebration is the memory you take with you. 💜

St. Joseph’s Home Health proudly serves seniors and families across 17 counties in West Texas, providing home health care, provider services, and private pay care.
