May is National Speech-Language-Hearing month! 🦻🗣️🧩 ⁣

As SLPs we work on a wide range of skills, including articulation, fluency, voice and resonance, receptive and expressive language, hearing, swallowing and feeding, cognitive aspects of communication, social aspects of communication, and communication modalities, such as AAC! ⁣
⁣
Here at SLB, we specialize in treating conditions such as phonological disorders, pediatric feeding disorders, Apraxia of speech, mixed expressive-receptive language disorders, and Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders. We also work with kiddos with ADD, ADHD, and/or Autism to support communication needs in a neuro-affirming, strengths-based manner. ⁣
⁣

We are offering FREE occupational therapy screenings at SLB. If your kiddo struggles with activities of daily living, such as tying their shoes, washing their hands, getting dressed and undressed, or using a fork and spoon, they may benefit from OT! OT can also work on handwriting, cutting, sensory regulation, and so much more. Our kiddos that need speech or behavioral services often benefit from occupational therapy as well. ✨Meet the Staff ✨ ⁣

Hello everyone! ⁣
My name is Andrea and I am occupational therapist. I recently joined the SLB team in April of last year. ⁣
I completed my undergrad degree at Texas Tech University before completing a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy at UT Health San Antonio. ⁣
I spent the first 5 years of my OT career working in inpatient rehabilitation, then transitioned to pediatrics. It brings be so much joy seeing kiddos master new skills and grow confident in their abilities. I also enjoy collaborating with parents and the amazing therapy team at SLB in order to provide the most effective, individualized care for each child. ⁣
⁣
Outside of work, I spend my time with my husband, 2.5 year old daughter, 4 month old son, and Labrador retriever. We enjoy going on walks, visiting family, and traveling to Texas Tech football games. ⁣

✨Meet the Staff ✨ ⁣

My name is Annie Evans. I have been with the company for 6 years and have been an RBT for 5. Having a brother with Autism, plus many family members with special needs, gave me a heart and passion for this community. I’m currently working on my Bachelor’s in psychology at UTPB, and my goal is to get my masters in Applied Behavior Analysis and become a BCBA. ⁣
I have been married to my husband for 14 years, and we have 3 children: Codi, my bonus daughter (20), Zoe, whom we recently adopted (14), and my son William (12). and hoping to help more children find their forever home in the future. ⁣
In my spare time, I like to go camping with my family, play video games, read, do diamond painting while listening to true crime, and listen to music. Music is a big part of my life, and I listen to pretty much anything. I’m always singing something around the clinic. ⁣
I love working at speech language and behavior because we are like a family regardless of if we’ve known each other for years of weeks. I also love the kids and their families, watching them grow and excel is what makes the job rewarding. ⁣
