Today is World Mental Health Day.

A little reminder that you don’t have to wait until you’re struggling to get support.

You can go to therapy because you’re overwhelmed, stuck in the same relationship patterns, navigating a life transition, having a hard time balancing everything, or just wanting to understand yourself a little better.
You don’t have to have all the answers before you start. You don’t even have to know exactly what you need.
Taking care of your mental health matters, even when things look fine from the outside.

We’re glad you’re here, and we’re glad you’re taking care of yourself.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness month. Domestic violence doesn’t always leave visible bruises. It can also look like constant criticism, controlling access to money, monitoring someone’s phone, or using fear to maintain power in a relationship.

Recognizing the signs is an important step toward awareness and support. If you or someone you love is experiencing abuse, you are not alone, and help is available.

OCD is so much more than being “really clean” or liking things a certain way. It can involve intrusive, unwanted thoughts and repetitive behaviors or mental acts that feel difficult to control.

OCD can look different from person to person, and not every experience is easy to see from the outside. Understanding what OCD really looks like is an important step toward reducing stigma and helping people feel less alone.

If you or someone you love is struggling with OCD, know that you are not your thoughts, and support is available. 🤍

Three years ago, Ellis County Counseling opened its doors. 🤍

Three years of conversations.
Three years of growth.
Three years of hard moments, brave steps, and meaningful change.

Most importantly, three years of people trusting us to be part of their story.

We’re incredibly grateful for every client, family, referral partner, and community member who has supported us along the way.

Sometimes your stress response doesn’t look the way you expect it to.

You might feel the need to defend yourself.
You might want to get away.
You might completely shut down.
Or you might find yourself focused on keeping everyone else happy.

These responses can be your nervous system’s way of trying to keep you safe or even when the situation isn’t actually dangerous anymore.

Understanding your response isn’t about blaming yourself or putting yourself in a box. It’s about becoming more aware of what your body and mind may be communicating.

Which response do you notice in yourself most often?

If you’re ready to better understand your patterns and where they may come from, therapy can be a place to start. 🤍

Do you ever feel like you’re always waiting for something bad to happen?

Maybe you replay conversations, anticipate what could go wrong, or find yourself preparing for problems that haven’t even happened yet.

Sometimes, being on high alert can become so familiar that slowing down feels uncomfortable. Even when things are going well, part of you may still be looking for what could go wrong.

If this sounds familiar, you don’t have to figure it out alone. Therapy can be a space to explore where that constant sense of worry comes from and what it might look like to feel more at ease.

Sometimes a hard season in a relationship can leave you wondering, “Are we growing apart, or are we just going through a lot right now?”

Instead of immediately trying to figure out what it
means for the future, it can help to slow down and get curious about what’s happening between you.

You don’t have to have all the answers before reaching out for support.

If you’re navigating a difficult season in your relationship, our latest blog explores more into relationships. Click in the link in our bio to learn more.

And if you’re not sure where to start, we offer a free consultation call to talk through what you’re experiencing and see if counseling may be a good fit.

Sometimes keeping the peace means keeping everyone else comfortable. 🌿

But healthy relationships don’t require you to silence your needs, avoid difficult conversations, or take responsibility for someone else’s reaction. You’re allowed to speak up. You’re allowed to set boundaries. You’re allowed to disagree. 🤍

You don’t have to abandon yourself to maintain a relationship.
