This summer, the process for how commercial license holders submit their medical certificates changed. Since late June, all medical certificates must be submitted by a reporting physician directly into the national registry maintained by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

These changes mean that both commercial driver license (CDL) holders and commercial learner permit (CLP) holders no longer need to bring paper copies of their medical certificates to the driver license office for input. Instead, all medical certificates are submitted directly by a physician into FMCSA’s national registry.

This change impacts all states — including Texas — and comes as the result of new federal regulations. Learn more at https://bit.ly/4iGylR2.
