๐Ÿšจ MEDICAL MONDAY: HUNTER DOWN IN THE FIELD ๐ŸฆŒ๐Ÿน

Hunting often takes us far from roads, cell service, and quick access to medical help. If someone in your hunting party suddenly goes down, knowing what to do can make all the difference.

๐Ÿฉบ FIRST โ€” MAKE SURE THE AREA IS SAFE
Before rushing in, make sure there are no firearm hazards, unstable terrain, or other dangers.

๐Ÿ“ž CALL 911
Even if you arenโ€™t sure how serious the situation is, call for help. Put your phone on speaker so you can keep your hands free.

โค๏ธ CHECK RESPONSIVENESS & BREATHING

* Are they awake and responding?
* Are they breathing normally?
* If they arenโ€™t breathing normally, begin CPR and follow the dispatcherโ€™s instructions.

๐Ÿฉธ LOOK FOR LIFE-THREATENING BLEEDING
A hunting accident can involve serious bleeding. Apply firm, direct pressure to severe bleeding. If you have a tourniquet and know how to use it, apply it for life-threatening bleeding from an arm or leg.

๐ŸงŠ KEEP THEM WARM
If theyโ€™re unconscious, injured, or in shock, protect them from the elements. Use coats, blankets, or other gear to keep them warm.

๐Ÿ“ KNOW YOUR LOCATION
When calling 911, be prepared to provide your GPS coordinates, hunting area, nearest road, trail, landmark, or access point. Donโ€™t leave the patient alone unless absolutely necessary.

๐Ÿš™ DONโ€™T MOVE THEM UNLESS NECESSARY
If you suspect a head, neck, or back injury, avoid moving them unless staying where they are creates an immediate danger.

๐Ÿ”ฆ HELP RESPONDERS FIND YOU
Use a flashlight, vehicle lights, GPS location, whistle, or other signals to make your location easier to identify.

Most importantly: STAY CALM. Give the dispatcher as much information as possible and follow their instructions until help arrives.

๐ŸฆŒ A few minutes of preparation before heading into the field could make a huge difference when something goes wrong.

Hunt smart. Hunt safe. Have a plan.

๐Ÿšฉ RED FLAGS ARE FLYING! ๐Ÿšฉ

High winds, dry fuels, and low humidity can turn one small mistake into a wildfire FAST. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Hereโ€™s what YOU can do today to help prevent a wildfire:

๐Ÿ”ฅ Skip outdoor burning โ€” save it for a safer day.
๐Ÿšฌ Never toss ci******es from your vehicle โ€” make sure they are completely extinguished.
โ›“๏ธ Check your chains โ€” dragging trailer chains can create sparks along the roadway.
๐Ÿš™ Stay off dry grass โ€” hot exhaust systems can ignite vegetation.
๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Be careful with equipment โ€” avoid using grinders, welders, mowers, or other spark-producing equipment when conditions are dangerous.
๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Secure anything that could blow away and become a hazard.
๐Ÿ”ฅ If you do have a fire, make absolutely sure it is DEAD OUT before leaving it unattended.

๐Ÿšจ A few extra minutes of caution can prevent a wildfire that takes hoursโ€”or daysโ€”to control.

Help us keep our community, homes, ranches, and open spaces safe. โค๏ธ

Think before you spark. If conditions are dangerous, wait for another day.
