Friday marked a poignant moment at Avantara Milbank as we honored Ruth's remarkable retirement. With 43 years of dedicated service, Ruth has been a cornerstone of our organization, serving as the Director of Nursing for many years. Her significant contributions to Avantara have been invaluable, and she often shares that she could write a book about her experiences. Everyone who has had the privilege of working alongside Ruth can attest to the wealth of knowledge they have gained from her. As she looks forward to cherishing more time with her family, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and will deeply miss her presence. Shannan has worked for Avantara for 1 year. She is Social Services for the facility.

Shannan went to Southern Hampshire University where she received her Bachelors in Psychology in 2022. Shannan worked at Tarrant County Jail - Psych department where she received her QMHP license.

When asked what she loved about working here Shannan said, “Being a social worker in a nursing home is deeply fulfilling because it allows me to be able to build meaningful long-term relationships with the residents, and support them through vulnerable life transitions. I have the opportunity to to get to know them on a personal level and can provide them compassionate care beyond medical needs. They all have different personalities and have become my second family."

Shannan stated that a fun fact about her is that she is obsessed with PIGS!

In Shannan’s free time she enjoys spending time with her three kids, anything outdoors- hiking, camping fishing etc, going to the farm, going to concerts and DIY projects.

Tarah has worked for Avantara Milbank for 3.5 years. She is the Human Resources Director and last year she took on the Business Office Manager position as well.

Tarah went to LATC where she received her Marketing & Management Business degree, then continued her education and received her Human Resources degree in 2017.

When asked what she loved about working here Tarah said, “Since taking over the Business Office I have really enjoyed getting to know the resident’s families and building relationships with them. It has been so much fun. I also really enjoy all the new relationships I’ve built with meeting many people from all over the United States. Everyday here is something new and I love all the challenges.

Tarah stated that a fun fact about her was that one day she decided she was going to try and juggle for the residents – and to her surprise she could juggle! She just recently learned that she also knows how to yo-yo. She calls herself the yo-yo queen.

In Tarah’s free time she enjoys spending time with her three daughters – going to the pool, zoo, park, arcade and of course shopping for more toys.
