A Unique Ribbon Cutting

Did you know the official opening of Milford Medical Center featured a giant Band-Aid instead of a ribbon?

Governor's Councilor Bernard A. Streeter, Jr. helped mark the occasion by cutting the oversized Band-Aid, a memorable symbol of healing, hope, and a new beginning for healthcare in our community.

Celebrating 50 Years of Caring for Our Community

Fifty years ago, on July 6, 1976, Milford Medical Center opened its doors, bringing healthcare closer to home for the Milford community.

What began as a vision to serve local families has grown into a lasting tradition of care. As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we're grateful to everyone who has been part of our story.

A recent WMUR story highlighted the challenges many emergency departments, including those in Manchester, are facing as they care for high volumes of patients.

It's important to remember that if your medical need is life-threatening, you will be prioritized and treated immediately. Emergency departments are designed to provide immediate care for the sickest and most critically injured patients.

For illnesses and injuries that aren't life-threatening, you have other options that may get you the care you need more quickly.

Before spending hours in an emergency room or visiting a standalone facility, call your primary care provider first. If your provider isn't available, our Urgent Care is here to help with non-emergency medical needs.

Choosing the right place for your care can mean:
βœ… Faster access to treatment
βœ… Lower out-of-pocket costs than an emergency room visit
βœ… Seamless care from providers who know your health history

By choosing primary care, or even urgent care when appropriate, you're also helping emergency departments remain available for patients experiencing true medical emergencies.

Our 2026 Health Careers Academy was a success!

25 local high school students explored the many rewarding careers in healthcare through hands-on experiences, department tours, and conversations with the dedicated professionals who care for our community every day.

From emergency medicine and surgery to diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation, and our Nursing Simulation Lab at the St. Joseph School of Nursing, students experienced firsthand the many paths available in healthcare.

With 70 applicants this year, we're inspired by the growing interest in healthcare careers and proud to help develop tomorrow's workforce.

Thank you to our physicians, nurses, staff, and volunteers who made this week possible, and to our incredible students for bringing such enthusiasm and curiosity. We can't wait to see where your journey leads!

Know before you go.

Freestanding ERs may provide initial evaluation, but if you need surgery, specialized care or an overnight hospital stay, you could require an ambulance transfer to another facility - potentially adding more time, expense and stress to an already difficult situation.

When every minute matters, choosing a local, full-service hospital emergency department can help keep your care connected, your medical records in one place and the services you may need close by.
