It's been a while since we've updated our page so be expecting a picture overload very soon!!! We have been super busy during this summer season and appreciate everyone who has made The Lab At Seascape their new home for blood testing and if you haven't had the opportunity to visit us yet, please do.
Bear with me as we, at the lab, have a little bit to brag about. You all probably know that all labs are very strictly monitored and regulated - every laboratory must participate in a very, very stringent bi-annual inspection with their accrediting agency - ours is The College of American Pathology or CAP. This is one of the toughest accrediting agencies , or so the general lab population says, and is used by most hospital labs in the region. We chose CAP because we want to be held to the same high standards as all hospital labs.
The CAP team arrived last Thursday and were scheduled to be at our lab for 2 days checking every piece of paper, every analyzer, every reagent, every lab test and just every little nook and cranny throughout the entire building. ( I have to add that our inspectors were good - they knew what they were doing and what they were looking for, but they were also so genuinely kind that our nerves were almost immediately calmed.) I, personally, had faith that our teams' efforts and work throughout the past two years would shine and it did. Because our amazing Technical Supervisor, Cindy, had all one thousand (exaggerating just a little bit) binders so totally organized and because our laboratory/medical director, David, is so incredibly engaged in our patients and their care and because our lab staff, Beth and Shanna, are so diligent and dedicated , and because our microbiology staff, Shirley and Shanna, are so extremely talented in the art of bodily fluids, and because our courier and supply staff, Greg and Ashton, are always ready to make another trip on the highways, and because our office staff, Nicole, Michelle, Kim and Jackie and because our phlebotomy staff (too many to name) are so wonderful, organized and faithful and loyal to our patient care motto - the CAP team was actually able to shave off an entire day of inspection. Please read the next sentence twice as we are all so so very proud to shout as loud as we can that - out of literally thousands of checkpoints (this is not an exaggeration), The Lab At Seascape received ONE DEFICIENCY!!!! Only ONE.
This may not seem like such a big deal to some, but let me tell you - one deficiency is not normal and this was not accomplished by one person. I cannot even express how proud and grateful we are to our amazing staff because staying in compliance is not a one day job. It is achieved by continuously remaining dedicated to a job well done and not just a weekly paycheck. It is achieved by never forgetting that that tube of blood represents a real human being and it is achieved by never forgetting that our patients deserve the best. We try to accomplish that Every. Single. Day. A thank you is not enough, but thank you to the entire Lab At Seascape team. We appreciate each and every one of you.
Gratefully,
Karen and Chad
