This morning I had a wonderful consultation with another ART provider in the UK, Cathy Morris.

Cathy is a Master ART practitioner and is based in Wales. It was so wonderful to hear about her experiences in using ART with her clients.

The landscape for ART and counselling in the UK is very different from what I’m used to in the US and I’m slowly but surely becoming more acquainted with it. Making connections with colleagues like Cathy is so important for my own journey, but also for advancing the progress of the modality.

Here’s to many more meetings and a future full of ART!

You can find out more about Cathy’s work at the link below

It's Blog Post Day!

I won't lie to you. This one is a bit of a long read. You may need a brew and a piece of cake to get through it opposed to my usual recommend of a brew and a biscuit. But I promise it's worth it!

This one is for all the parents, coaches, educators... anyone who is interacting with children in the current technology environment. It's a hailstorm out there and there's so much guidance.

While my general advice is always, do what feels right for you and your family, I can't help but feel strongly about the things I've seen in my therapy room the past few years.

So, here's my unfiltered answers to the most asked questions when it comes to young people and technology use.

✨Wednesday Blog Post! ✨

Have you ever wondered why you react the way you do?

Why you push people away when you're hurting, why you struggle to ask for help, or why certain situations seem to trigger emotions that feel much bigger than the moment itself?

In my latest blog post on The Therapist Diaries, I explore this through something surprisingly simple: a Matryoshka (Russian nesting) doll.

As therapists, we often talk about the different "layers" we all carry. The confident version the world sees. The anxious part trying to keep us safe. The younger part still carrying old hurts. Each layer developed for a reason, and every one of them deserves compassion.

Healing isn't about getting rid of those layers. It's about understanding them.

If you've ever found yourself asking, "What's wrong with me?" this blog might help you begin asking a much gentler question: "What happened to me?"

Read the full blog and discover what a childhood keepsake taught me about trauma, resilience, and healing.

I'd love to know what you think after you've read it.

One of the things I value most about my foundational training in crisis work is the confidence it has given me to respond effectively when clients need immediate support. Working in crisis taught me to think quickly, remain calm under pressure, and adapt to rapidly changing situations while always keeping client safety at the forefront.

At 6:45 this morning, I received a message from a client requesting an urgent additional session following a significant life event. By 10:00 a.m., we were in session. Together, we created a safe space to process overwhelming emotions, completed a safety plan, and established a clear plan for ongoing support.

Moments like these remind me why I do this work. I never take for granted the trust my clients place in me, especially during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. I am incredibly grateful for the training that prepared me for crisis intervention and for the privilege of being someone my clients know they can turn to when they need support the most.

Sunday Blog Post!

Today's blog is all about recognising our own needs and having the courage to ask for support from the people around us.

One of the most important things we can do in life is find *our people*, those who love us, encourage us, and remind us that we don't have to carry everything on our own.

But it's also important to remember that not everyone in our lives is able to offer the support we need. Sometimes people are dealing with their own struggles, and sometimes they simply don't have the capacity to show up in the way we hope.

It's okay to ask for help. And it's also okay to seek support elsewhere when someone can't give you what you need.

Asking for help isn't a weakness, it's an act of self-awareness, courage, and self-compassion. 💜

Who are the people you can turn to when life feels heavy?

New Blog Post!!

*House of the Dragon spoilers!!*

What if the reason you react so strongly today has less to do with the present and more to do with the past?

The latest House of the Dragon episode inspired a reflection on grief, trauma, and why certain people or situations can suddenly make us feel like a child again.

In today’s episode of The Therapist Diaries I explore how old emotional wounds can shape our present day reactions and why understanding them is often the first step towards healing.

✨ Client Spotlight✨

In my therapy room we love celebrating the wins, big and small, because healing often shows up in the moments we least expect.

I first met with this client in April for an Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) intensive. Together, we worked through several childhood trauma experiences, including difficulties around food possession and sharing, which had caused significant distress for many years.

Today, I received an update that made me smile.

The client had ordered food with friends, and one of their friends ate half of the thing he had ordered. In the past, this situation would have been incredibly upsetting and would have triggered a lot of distress which would have impacted the client for days and would have impacted others around them.

This time?

Their response was simply:

“I didn’t even care.”

What an incredible transformation.

Sometimes healing isn't dramatic or obvious from the outside. Sometimes it's being able to sit with friends, enjoy a meal, and feel completely at peace in a situation that once felt overwhelming.

I am so proud of this client and the work they have been putting in over the past few months to not only heal themselves, but to learn to love themselves again, I am truly honoured to have been part of their journey. 💜
