🔥 Something Warm Is Coming… 🔥

Imagine stepping away from the cold, the chaos, and the endless demands of the holiday season.

A little warmth.
A little indulgence.
A moment when the rest of the world simply melts away.

Something wonderfully cozy is making its way into my treatment room this holiday season.

And trust me, you’re going to want to experience this one. 🍂✨

Holiday Self-Care 2026

The warmth is coming. The details? Those are still my little secret. 😉

Coming in November.

🚨 A Reminder About My Sickness Policy

Apparently, we need to revisit this.

If you are sick, please do not come to your massage appointment.

If you have a cough, sore throat, fever, congestion, active respiratory symptoms, or you’re clearly coming down with something, your appointment needs to be rescheduled.

I understand that appointments can be difficult to get. I understand that nobody wants to cancel. But coming in sick because you “really need your massage” is not an option.

I work in very close proximity to my clients all day long. If I get sick, I don’t just lose one appointment, I potentially have to cancel an entire schedule and expose other clients along the way.

And no, taking some cold medicine so you feel well enough to make it through your appointment does not make you not sick. 😬

So, effective immediately, I will be enforcing this policy without exception. If you arrive visibly ill or symptomatic, your appointment will not proceed and you will be asked to reschedule.

Please give yourself time to recover. Your massage will still be here when you’re well.

I love taking care of you.

But I am officially done negotiating with germs. 😂

Thank you for respecting my health, my livelihood, and the health of everyone else who walks through my door. ❤️

🎄 I KNOW. IT’S OCTOBER 1ST. 🎄

Calm down. 😂 I am NOT skipping spooky season. 🎃🖤

Buttttt… I’ve officially decided what I’m doing for this year’s holiday special, and I’m already ridiculously excited about it.

Here’s your first hint:

This year, I don’t want you buying something for everyone else.

I want you to put YOURSELF on the Christmas list. 🎁

And I may have added a little something extra this year that’s warm, cozy and absolutely PERFECT for winter. 🔥😏

That’s all you’re getting out of me for now.

The full holiday special drops in November.

Until then, resume your regularly scheduled spooky season. 🎃🖤

But maybe leave a little room on your Christmas list for yourself. 😉

🏈 IMPORTANT 2027 SCHEDULING UPDATE! 🏈

A big heads-up for all of my Friday clients as you start thinking ahead to 2027!

Beginning in September 2027, I will be CLOSED EVERY FRIDAY throughout Penn State football season.

That means:

NO FRIDAY APPOINTMENTS in September, October, or November 2027.

With Penn State football traffic, campers, tailgaters, and the general fall chaos around Happy Valley, Fridays have become increasingly difficult to navigate. So instead of trying to work around it week by week, I’m simply taking Fridays off the schedule for those three months.

❤️ If Friday is normally your massage day, please plan ahead and have an alternate day and/or time available for September, October, and November.

Removing Fridays means fewer appointments available each week, so booking ahead will be especially important during those months.

My regular Friday people — I still love you. 😂 We’re just going to have to find you a temporary new home on the calendar until December!

SEPTEMBER • OCTOBER • NOVEMBER 2027 = NO FRIDAYS

🏈 Because apparently Penn State football gets custody of Route 322 for the fall. 😂

Your body feels the seasons, too.

Have you noticed that when the weather starts changing, your body sometimes gets a little… cranky?

Your neck is tighter. Your shoulders are suddenly living somewhere near your ears. That old hip or knee starts complaining again. You’re sleeping differently. Your energy shifts. Maybe you just feel a little more tired and achy than usual.

There’s a reason for that.

We aren’t separate from the seasons. Our bodies are constantly adapting to changes in temperature, daylight, activity, sleep patterns and even our daily routines.

And fall is a BIG transition.

This is actually one of my favorite times of year for massage.

Massage helps warm and soften tight muscles, encourage circulation, maintain mobility and, maybe most importantly, gives your nervous system a chance to settle down for a minute.

Because sometimes your body doesn’t need you to push harder.

Sometimes it needs you to slow the hell down.

We prepare everything else for a change in season. We put the garden to bed. We drag out the sweaters. We change the bedding. We get the house ready for colder weather.

Your body deserves a little seasonal maintenance, too.

Listen when it whispers so it doesn’t have to start yelling.

Your body feels the seasons, too. 🍂

Fifteen years later…

I wrote this in December of 2011 for the Savannah Morning News. I was writing to my son, but somewhere along the way, it became something bigger—a collection of the things I had learned about life up to that point.

I stumbled across it again recently, and reading the words of the woman I was fifteen years ago was a little surreal.

Some things have changed. A lot has happened.

But apparently, at my core, I haven’t changed all that much.

I still believe in kindness. I still believe in ridiculously big dreams, high standards, chosen family, dogs, magic, doing your own research, laughing until your face hurts, and protecting your own happiness.

And apparently I’ve been preaching boundaries a lot longer than I realized. 😂

I’m proud of this one.

So, from 2011 me to 2026 me—and maybe to somebody who needs to read it today—here it is.

Mother’s Guide to a Happy Life

By Sarah Haley
Originally published December 19, 2011

Life. It’s never easy.

At best, it’s challenging. It’s in rising to face the challenges that you truly live.

I’m writing this to you, my son, in hopes that you’ll be given a brighter perspective on life, an unbridled sense of abandon, and a determination to live each day as though tomorrow were not the goal, but rather, that each moment defines your purpose. No matter what else you may take from this, each line is filled with my love for you.

Life is meant to be lived.

There will be times that you have days of sadness, fits of anger, torrents of tears, or unbearable heartache. Face them, conquer them, find the lesson.

In doing this, you’ll find yourself.

So, here it is. I give you a “Mother’s Guide To A Happy Life.” The lessons that I’ve learned, and pass on to you. Whether or not you know it, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love you.

There is only one you. Be the best YOU that you can be. Be so amazing that you need to copyright yourself. Make people wish that they could be you.

Love unconditionally. Be humble. Be kind. Why? Because karma will come knocking when you aren’t.

Don’t just shoot for the stars. Knock them out of the way. Set your goals, set them high. Then … surpass them. Do it with ease.

Don’t you dare settle for what the world thinks you’re capable of. Chase your dreams and show them ALL how wrong they were.

Give up on giving up. Right NOW! FOR GOOD!

Push yourself, everyday, to do one thing better than you did yesterday.

Never listen to people who tell you that “you can’t.” They are just the people who never had the guts to try. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others. Make it your job to have people in a state of awe at the amazingness that is you.

Love with all your heart, whenever the chance presents itself.

Laugh until your face hurts, until you get those little cramps behind your ears. That will do you more good than any therapist ever will.

Pet dogs, smile at strangers. Be the reason that someone, somewhere had a good day.

Oh, THIS is important! Remember that it’s always good to speak kindly when in an argument. Failing that, make sure you can hit hard, or run fast.

Dream BIG, believe in yourself, even when no one else does. Your doubters do not determine the outcome, they simply present you with the option to fail.

Don’t ever lower your standards. The people you NEED in your life will rise to yours. I guarantee that.

Don’t abide or participate in gossip. It will only ever hurt people in the end.

Learn and remember at least one good joke.

Eat vegetables, even if you hate them. Your colon will thank you.

Be a force to be reckoned with, stand up for what you believe in. Not someone who is easily knocked down. Your words and your thoughts create your fate. I beg you, choose both carefully. One is no more powerful than the other.

Remember that you are never solely responsible for another person’s happiness. Make sure you always put your happiness first.

Heartache is never permanent. That doesn’t mean that it will ever hurt any less each time it happens. Chili pepper, dark chocolate and a good red w**e are time-tested cures. So are voodoo dolls and stick pins. I promise.

Magic is real. It happens every day. All you need is faith in the unseen.

Full moons are beautiful things. Try not to miss one. Let them take your breath away.

Never just accept anything. Listen to both sides. Do your own research and form your own opinion.

Fads are for followers. Be the trend-setter. March to your own music. Never fear being different, it makes life worth it.

Home is where you make it. Your family is of your own choosing. So make sure it’s comfortable and choose wisely.

Mistakes happen. To everyone. Constantly. They’re just learning opportunities in disguise.

No one in the world can ever replace your grandma, the woman you refer to as Mom. Rightfully so, because she is. She is the best gift you’ll ever receive, so treat her as such.

Money is meant to spent. Just be smart, and spend it on your bills first.

Lastly, live in the moment. Enjoy the NOW, because there is never any certainty about later. Love the ones who deserve it, pray for the ones that don’t.

Smile. No matter what. I did. Trust me, it helps.

A little scheduling PSA from your friendly neighborhood massage therapist:

If you need an appointment after 3 PM, my next available opening is currently October 22.

I know schedules are busy. I know things come up. And I will always do what I reasonably can to accommodate my clients.

But here’s the spicy part:

I cannot give you an appointment I do not have.

Once those afternoon spots are booked, they’re booked. There is no secret appointment drawer. I cannot squeeze another person into a time slot that already belongs to someone else, and I’m not going to overbook myself and compromise anyone’s session to make it happen.

If you know you need late-afternoon appointments, please, please book ahead. Ideally, have your next couple of appointments on the schedule before you leave your current one.

I am incredibly grateful to stay this busy—but being proactive with scheduling is becoming absolutely necessary, especially for those coveted after 3:00 spots.

Plan ahead, friends. Future You will be very glad you did.

A little Muscle Mender update!

After giving it some thought, I’ve decided that I will no longer be offering Muscle Mender for retail purchase.

I absolutely love this product and what it adds to my work, but producing it for individual sale has become increasingly difficult to make practical. I’m self-employed and purchase my ingredients at retail prices, and as those costs continue to rise, small-batch production simply doesn’t make sense anymore.

There’s also a surprising amount of time and coordination involved behind the scenes with preorders, invoicing, payments and arranging pickups. I recently tried requiring payment at the time of preorder to simplify that process, and unfortunately, it didn’t work as smoothly as I had hoped. Some people got unbelievably rude.

So rather than turning something I love into something stressful, I’m simplifying.

Muscle Mender isn’t going away, it’s going back where it works best: in the treatment room.

Going forward, Muscle Mender will be available as an enhancement to your massage:

• Upper body — $10
• Lower body — $10
• Full body — $20

This allows me to continue using fresh, small batches while keeping the focus exactly where I want it: helping your body feel better.

If you already have your own little tin at home, enjoy every last bit of it, those babies are officially limited editions now.

Sometimes running a business means recognizing when something needs to change. This is one of those times, and I think this change is going to make Muscle Mender even better as part of your session.

It’s a rainy Tuesday morning. It’s the first day of Fall. I’m feeling a HUGE amount of gratitude! Let’s chat about life and happiness.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how much of our own happiness we actually have some control over.

Not everything, obviously. Life is going to life. Bad things happen. People disappoint us. Bills show up. Plans fall apart. Sometimes everything just sucks for a minute.

But I also think we make life a whole lot harder than it needs to be sometimes.

So here are a few things I’m learning.

Protect your peace.

Seriously. Set boundaries. Say no. Stop feeling guilty about it. You don’t have to answer every phone call, attend every argument, fix everybody’s problems, or explain yourself to people committed to misunderstanding you.

And if someone continually wrecks your peace, they don’t need unlimited access to you.

Stop consuming so much news.

You can stay informed without spending hours watching legacy media tell you what you should be terrified or furious about today. Find the information you need, verify it, and then turn it off.

The world will continue spinning while you go outside and live your life.

Speaking of which…

GO OUTSIDE.

Sit in the sunshine. Take a walk. Drink your coffee on the porch. Put your feet in the grass. Look at the trees. Watch the birds being ridiculous. Breathe some actual fresh air.

Put the damn phone down for a while.

Be grateful for the boring stuff.

A warm house. Clean sheets. Food in the refrigerator. Hot water. Your favorite coffee. Dogs sleeping beside you. A comfortable bed. Someone who loves you. A body that got you through another day.

Those things aren’t really boring at all.

Stop inviting unnecessary chaos into your life.

Unfollow people.
Turn off notifications.
Decline the invitation.
Don’t respond to the stupid comment.
Stop arguing with strangers on the internet.
Let people be wrong.

Not everything requires your participation.

Laugh more.

Be weird. Be silly. Sing badly. Dance in the kitchen. Send your friend the completely inappropriate meme. Laugh until your stomach hurts.

We’re all taking this adulthood thing entirely too seriously.

And give yourself things to look forward to.

They don’t have to be big things.

A new book. A good dinner. Fall decorations. A day off. Fresh sheets. A candle you love. A trip to your favorite little store. Halloween. Coffee with a friend.

Life isn’t just made up of the huge moments.

Most of it is Tuesday.

So make Tuesday good, too.

I’m really trying to stop waiting for everything to be perfect before I enjoy my life.

There will always be something to worry about.
There will always be work to do.
There will always be somebody somewhere acting like an as***le.

I’m going to drink my coffee anyway.

I’m going to notice the sunshine.

I’m going to be grateful for my little life and the people and animals in it.

I’m going to protect my peace fiercely.

And I’m going to look for something good every single day.

Maybe that’s where happier lives actually start.

Not with some huge transformation.

Just a whole bunch of better days.

📣 MUSCLE MENDER PREORDER REMINDER

If you placed a Muscle Mender preorder today, your invoice must be paid by 6:00 PM today for your order to be filled.

🌿 Preorder = prepaid.

I will only be making and taking paid orders to the office for pickup. I will not be bringing additional Muscle Mender for unpaid orders or for payment at pickup.

Because demand is higher than the supply I have available, orders are filled in the order payment is received — not in the order they were requested.

If your invoice is not paid by 6:00 PM, your preorder will be released and there will not be a Muscle Mender waiting for you at the front desk.

This system also keeps pickups simple and prevents unnecessary confusion for the front desk staff.

Thank you for understanding and for helping me keep this process smooth for everyone! 💚
