The gym isn’t where you’re losing muscle.

The chair is.

New research found that prolonged, uninterrupted sitting was associated with poorer calf muscle function, while regular movement breaks were associated with better outcomes.

Read that again.

The issue wasn’t exercise.

The issue was what happened between workouts.

Most people spend an hour training and the next ten hours sitting.

Your body notices both.

Get up.
Move often.
Don’t let your chair win.

You don’t have to brush your teeth. Just the ones you want to keep.

Most athletes think performance lives in the gym, on the track, or in the kitchen.

Few think about what’s happening in their mouth.

From a sports and performance medicine perspective, your oral health is directly tied to your overall health. It’s not separate. It’s part of the same system.

Poor oral health is associated with systemic conditions like cardiovascular disease, metabolic dysfunction, and chronic inflammation. What’s happening in your mouth doesn’t stay there.

Gum disease and poor oral hygiene create a persistent low-grade inflammatory state. That matters for recovery, tissue healing, and how well your body adapts to training.

If you’re dealing with lingering aches, stubborn tendon pain, or slower recovery between sessions, this is one of those often overlooked contributors.

There’s also a performance angle. Oral bacteria can enter the bloodstream and impact cardiovascular function and energy levels.

Brush. Floss. Get regular cleanings.

Because performance isn’t just built through training. It’s supported or limited by the systems most people ignore.

Knee pain with running isn’t just a knee problem.

The knee is where pain shows up, but it is rarely where the problem starts.

In most cases, it reflects how load is being distributed across the lower extremity. When the hip, quad, or calf are not contributing enough, the knee absorbs more than it should during running.

That is why rest, stretching, or shoe changes tend to fall short. The underlying issue, load capacity and control, has not been addressed.

This is a pattern I see every day with runners and active patients. I can help. 🏃‍♂️

In a clinical setting, the approach is straightforward:
Settle symptoms.
Identify where the system is breaking down.
Rebuild capacity so load is shared more effectively.

When that happens, pain decreases and running becomes consistent again.

If your symptoms show up in a predictable way during runs, there is a reason behind it.

Comment or DM “KNEE” and where you feel it. 📩

After 20+ years helping athletes perform, I still see people get the basics wrong. Here’s what I’m doubling down on right now.

These are the habits that make a difference. Not trendy. Not complicated. Just the simple things that consistently move the needle for energy, recovery, and performance.

Most people don’t have a knowledge problem. They have a consistency problem.

If you’re dealing with energy dips, stubborn weight, nagging injuries, or just not feeling like yourself, start here. Pick one or two and actually do them daily.

Simple works when you work it.

Rehab isn’t always easy. Pain shows up sometimes - that’s normal. Your body is adapting, getting stronger, and figuring out what it can handle. That’s progress, even if it doesn’t feel like it.

Take a step back if you need to. Adjust. Rest. Recover. Find what helps: sleep, nutrition, loading, small tweaks to your training. Every day you listen and adapt, you’re building resilience.

You don’t have to do this alone. We’re here! Call or DM anytime if you need support.

How do you push through discomfort in rehab? Share your tips below - we’d love to hear them 👇

You logged the miles. You hit the intervals. You nailed nutrition.

But you slept 4 hours last night.

Your competition is sleeping. Are you? 😴

Sleep isn’t a luxury bolted onto your training plan - it’s a non-negotiable line item IN it. Just like your long run. Just like your tempo session. Just like your recovery ride.

Skip it and the data hit different:

< 5 hrs = +73% injury risk 🚨
5 hrs = +59% injury risk 🚨

8 hrs = You actually adapt and perform ✅

Your tendons are repairing.

Your glycogen is restoring.

Your nervous system is resetting.

All of it happens when you’re asleep. Not on the trails. Not on the bike. Not in the pool.

The athletes performing at the highest level aren’t just training harder - they’re recovering smarter. Broken down athletes don’t cross finish lines.

8 hours isn’t laziness. It’s your competitive edge. 🏃‍♂️💤

Does kinesiology tape actually do anything… or is it just colorful athletic fashion?

When applied correctly, elastic therapeutic tape can help reduce pain, improve body awareness, and support irritated tissues without restricting movement.

For athletes and active people, that often means you can keep moving and training while the area settles down.

At , taping is one small piece of a bigger strategy that includes hands-on treatment, movement correction, and progressive rehab. Tape alone rarely fixes the problem, but it can make movement and training more comfortable while the real work happens.

Simple tool. Smart application. Better movement.

If you’re dealing with pain during training, SAVE this post for later or send it to a training partner who tapes everything.
