One of the reasons I love working with horses is because they don’t “fake” nervous system responses.
They don’t try to say the right thing.
They don’t mask tension.
They don’t convince themselves they’re relaxed when they’re still holding.
Horses tell the truth through their bodies.
As decompression through cupping begins creating space within the tissue, you’ll often start seeing visible nervous system responses:
• blinking
• licking and chewing
• yawning
• softening through the eyes
• lowering of the head and neck
• shifts in posture
• deeper breathing
• releases through the fascial system
This is part of why I find this work so fascinating.
Cupping isn’t simply “pulling on muscle.” It creates a very different neurological and circulatory conversation within the body compared to constant downward pressure alone. By creating decompression, fluid movement, and space within the tissue, the body often begins letting go of holding patterns it’s been protecting for a long time.
And horses… they show you exactly when that shift happens.
“Horses don’t lie” 🤍
