R3 Athletic & Physical Therapy

R3 Athletic & Physical Therapy P3 Athletic is a full-service physical therapy, prevention, and performance clinic offering 1:1 care. Nothing should stop you.

We offer complimentary Discovery Sessions during which we answer your questions, learn more about your goals, and discuss how P3 can help you achieve those goals. The evolution of healthcare policies over the years have made it considerably difficult for healthcare professionals to provide quality care that is focused 100% on the patient. For physical therapy clients, the consequence is extended r

ecovery periods and/or improperly treated conditions that result in further injury or pain. P3 Athletic was founded on the belief that we’re all meant to move, play, and be active in order to live joyful, healthy lives. Our practice is dictated by our commitment to helping patients and clients achieve this lifestyle and build good habits immediately, as time is one of our most valuable - and limited - resources. Whether you want to enjoy the beautiful Bay Area weather on a 5-mile trail run or want to join a pick-up game of basketball, you should be able to jump right in. Competitive athletes should feel confident their bodies won’t let them down. We can help you get there and more importantly maintain it.

The goal is not just to feel better right now. It is to know your body well enough to handle setbacks when they come. 🙌

This patient came to R3 after 3 years of dealing with patellar tendonitis in both knees. After working with Michael, Des, Dustin, and the team, he left with something more valuable than pain relief: the confidence to manage his condition and keep moving toward the activities he loves. 🏃

That is what performance-focused rehab looks like. See what patients are saying through the link in bio.⚡️

Stretching your chest is NOT always enough ❌

Most chest tightness and shoulder discomfort live in the fascia, the connective tissue that no doorway stretch can fully reach. To actually change it, the tissue needs to be decompressed and moved simultaneously.

Cupping with movement does exactly that, guiding you through active chest movements at multiple angles and targeting restrictions where they actually exist.

The difference isn’t temporary relief. It’s tissue that moves better because it was treated the way it functions.

Book your free discovery visit at R3 and feel the difference! ⚡️

What sport do you play? ⚾️🏌🏸
Because this drill is probably missing from your warm-up.

Hip rotation drives power in baseball, golf, badminton, and almost every other sport that involves a swing or a change of direction. But most athletes never train it directly until something breaks down.

This movement works internal and external rotation simultaneously, keeping the knees and toes stable, and trains the hips to move independently — exactly what your body needs to generate force and stay pain-free through a full season.

Drop your sport in the comments. We’ll tell you how this applies to your game! ⚡️

Most athletes learned RICE: rest it, ice it, wait it out 🧊

The problem? Too much rest can reduce strength, lower tissue capacity, and leave the body unprepared when it returns to training.

MEAT is a more modern framework for recovery: Movement, Exercise, Analgesia, Treatment. Instead of shutting the body down, it keeps the body engaged with controlled, progressive loading and hands-on care.

You maintain strength and mobility instead of starting over. Controlled loading tells tissue to adapt. That’s how muscles, tendons, and joints get stronger. When you return, your body can handle the load, not just feel good for now ⚡️

At R3, we help athletes and active adults get back to training while keeping the fitness they’ve built 💪

You’ve been told your squat needs work, but nobody showed you how to actually fix it ⚡️

Start here! The heel elevated goblet squat reduces two common limitations for many lifters, limited ankle mobility and excessive forward torso lean, and creates a position where key muscles can actually do their job.

What you get out of it:
→ More usable squat depth without compensation
→ Direct quad loading in a more stable position
→ Better hip and upper back awareness throughout the movement
→ A foundation that carries over to heavier squat variations

Simple variation. High return. This is where the squat gets built before it gets loaded 🎯
