Currently in the mess of moving with two little ones in the middle of winter and overdue for an update. We said goodbye to our first home (and our village of friends/my family) in Milwaukee and headed north over what turned out to be a very snowy weekend. ❄️

Though I’m leaning into rest in this transition, I also crave community and am excited for what’s to come! My current goal is to settle my family into a new routine, mingle with the local birth-workers and hear the needs of the area.

Ten days ago this second time mother roared her baby earth side in the comfort of her own bedroom, surrounded by love. She worked hard through pregnancy to prepare her mind, body, and soul for this beautiful birth; somewhere along the way embodying the fact she had everything she needed within herself. It was such an honor to witness a friend who, fully supported by her village, could put all energy towards bringing her baby calmly and fiercely into the world.

Thank you for inviting me into your sacred birth space. 🙏

It was such an honor to hold space as this Mom brought her baby girl earth side with pure strength and determination. Her love and calm demeanor created the dreamiest new environment for baby girl to enter as she left her first home. The mother baby dyad is pure magic and I was so moved to witness the birth of you both. ✨

I can’t help but think about all the lasts we’ll have the next few months.

The last time I’ll hold you for your whole nap.
We’ll wake up just the two of us and read books as long as you want.
The last time you have mama AND daddy for the whole bedtime routine.
The last time it’ll be just you and me against the world.
And the last time my whole heart is outside my body in just one place.

But there’s also been a lot of magical firsts.

The first time you talked to my belly and gave it a pat-pat.
The first time I felt baby kick while snuggling you.
Nourishing two humans at once, creating life AND breastfeeding a toddler. It’s depleting but it’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever done. I love my body.
The first time you helped me rub in belly balm.
Seeing you develop empathy and asking if the baby is okay (after you jump on my belly)

And what’s coming next,
Sharing with you the sacred beauty of childbirth.
The first time you see your baby sibling.
Seeing you grow from solo child to sibling and loving on you through it all.
Watching the two of you bond.

Finding a way to make sure you both know your mama’s love for you is eternal.
