Saturday, something beautiful took root on the North Side in Milwaukee.

We gathered at Villard Library with mothers, community partners, and the City of Milwaukee Office of African American Affairs to officially launch MERA MOMS — a space built for mothers, with mothers, and powered by the belief that when we invest in women, we strengthen entire communities.

This wasn’t just a program kickoff. It was a moment of connection, healing, and possibility. It was mothers showing up for themselves and each other. It was community showing what it looks like when we choose prevention, partnership, and love in action.

To every mom who came out today: Your voice matters. Your rest matters. Your dreams matter.And MERA MOMS is here to walk with you not just today, but every step forward.

Thank you to the Office of African American Affairs for your leadership and partnership, and to Villard Library for opening your doors to this movement.

This is only the beginning. MERA CARES . MERA MOMS. Milwaukee rises when mothers rise.

Gaenslen School, thank you for having MERA CARES at Career Days. Spending time in four classrooms across 4th and 5th grade was a joy. Your students are sharp, creative, and full of potential.

We loved introducing the MERA CARES EDU Program and showing young people how emotional wellness, leadership, and tech‑forward learning can shape their futures. Huge appreciation to school leadership for opening the door to deeper collaboration and for considering MERA CARES for future Professional Development Days with staff.

Milwaukee’s future is bright because our students are brilliant.
