Twice a month, Legacy offers Memory Social events to foster connection, community, and wellbeing for caregivers and their loved ones living with dementia. These drop in experiences are meant to reduce isolation for individuals living with dementia, and offer a much needed pause for their caregivers. Our next Memory Social is Thursday, June 25th. We hope to see you there. 🌸💕✨

Most people think about support only after a caregiver reaches burnout.
After the exhaustion.
After the emotional overwhelm.
After the breaking point.

But what if we started looking at respite differently?
Not just as emergency support…
but as preventative care.
An opportunity for caregivers to rest, recover emotionally, regulate their nervous systems, and reconnect with themselves before complete depletion happens.
Because wellness should not begin only after someone is overwhelmed.
And caregivers deserve support before they hit survival mode too.

Need a break? Legacy offers free community-based respite experiences where loved ones living with dementia are cared for while caregivers take time to rest and recharge. 🌸💕✨

My mother’s younger-onset dementia diagnosis sparked a lifelong interest in understanding the brain. What I didn’t expect was that my own healing journey would teach me just as much.

This Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, I’m sharing a personal reflection on stress, self-awareness, emotional wellness, and why caring for our brains begins long before a diagnosis ever occurs.

We often think about stress emotionally.
But chronic stress impacts the body and brain physically too.
That’s why rest, emotional awareness, therapy, boundaries, and intentional wellness matter more than many of us realize.
Not because life will suddenly become stress-free.
But because the body still needs moments of recovery from what it carries.
If you are caring for a loved one with dementia, Legacy offers free wellness support, education, and community-centered resources for caregivers. 💜

A lot of us learned how to survive.
Keep going.
Keep functioning.
Keep carrying.
But survival and wellness are not the same thing.

Today’s reflection:
What have you normalized emotionally that may actually be affecting your well-being?

In the past year, Legacy has provided over 1,000 hours of respite, supported caregivers through wellness initiatives, hosted Memory Socials, created meaningful opportunities for connection, and helped families realize they are not alone on this journey. Most importantly, we’ve seen what is possible when a community comes together to support one another.

We want to take a moment to celebrate everything we’ve accomplished together and share what’s next for Legacy.

This evening will be an opportunity to:
- Celebrate the impact we’ve created together over the past year
-Recognize the caregivers, families, volunteers, and partners who made it possible
-Reflect on the memories, connections, and moments that have shaped our community
- Share exciting updates about the future of Legacy, the Caregiver Sanctuary, and what’s ahead

A respite corner will be available during the event, and individuals living with dementia are warmly welcomed and encouraged to join in the celebration.
