WARNING! This one’s a little vulnerable 🫣
Today I’m grateful for the people in my life who are willing to show up for me, even on my hardest days where ugly crying is the only option.
I’m particularly grateful for Tammi , Mark Wojahn , Drew Detzner , Dr. Carrie Murphy, LAc , and Restorative Laser Therapy for their support & care while I worked through some difficult emotions.
Emotions can sometimes be scary, even overwhelming. And in a society of fake it till you make it, we are taught from a young age to suppress, burry our emotions, and pretend like everything is ok for the sake of other people’s comfort, all while paying the price of remaining disregulated.
And when we stuff it all down & lock it away, that pattern, trauma, or emotion gets imprinted in our body (read The Body Keeps The Score). This can become a cumulative effect if we repeat this pattern, and if we choose to ignore the warning signs our body is sending us to deal with that suppression, it will find ways to make itself heard. Physically though disease, disorders, or other bodily discomforts, or emotionally though anxiety, fear, depression, panic attacks, withdrawal, relationship issues, etc.
So while our society in general doesn’t do a great job of holding empathy for someone who is struggling, it is so important, vital even, to find someone in our life who can hold that space for us. Be it a good friend, a partner, a parent, or a practitioner. Someone who can let you be you, however messy it looks, so you can fully process & release whatever you’ve been holding on to.
Did you know that it only takes 90 seconds for an emotion to fully process & release from our system? That means if you feel that emotion for longer, you’re holding on to it. We were never meant to hold on in this way. Think about a dog who shakes after feeling threatened. He is releasing trauma/emotions so he can get up & move on freely. That is also how our body, our nervous system is designed.
Those people I listed above, they are just a handful of those in my life that I know I can call on when I’m in distress. This experience showed me an old pattern within myself, one that told me I have no one I can talk to. Even though my conscious brain knew otherwise. But that’s what happens. Traumas and suppressed emotions create an imprint, because our nervous system learned that imprint kept us from dying. So it will repeat it over & over to keep us alive, until we reset it. Create a new imprint.
Who do you have in your life that you can call on for help? If you don’t have an answer, if you feel like you’re alone, you’re not. Please send me a message, I will respond. So many people have helped me get to where I am today and I’m here to help you in that same way.
And if you’re interested in diving deeper, in discovering what your patterns are and how to create a new imprint, I can help you with that, too ❤️
Please take care of yourself, it’s crazy times right now, and we need all the support we can get.
