What's draining you most right now?

“Kinda chic” is trending right now. Soft light. Folded laundry. A coffee that’s actually still warm.

Caregivers do this too. Not because it’s a trend. Because looking composed is often the only thing left in our control.

The house is quiet. The schedule is managed. The face is calm.

Underneath it, the vigilance never turns off.

That’s capacity erosion. It doesn’t look like collapse. It looks kinda chic, right up until it doesn’t anymore.

If you’re holding it together on the outside and running on empty underneath, the quiz in my bio will show you exactly where the leak is. c

Jenn sat down with Diane Carbo, RN on the Caregiver Relief Podcast to talk about something most caregivers already know but rarely hear said out loud: rest doesn’t fix caregiver burnout.

She shared what it’s actually been like living this from both sides, two kidney transplants, and over a decade caregiving for her daughter. Not the version where everything gets tied up neatly. The real one.

If you’ve ever wondered why you can sleep a full night and still wake up depleted, this conversation is for you.

New headshots and a shoutout to the person who made them happen.

Sawyer (Sawyer Boyce with CI More Productions LLC ) shot these in a tight 30 minute window and still found time to catch a few unplanned frames that turned out to be favorites.

Confident, kind, pep-talker and easy to work with. Highly recommend if you’re due for new photos.

It’s not just what you’re doing that drains you.
It’s what never gets to feel done.

There’s a kind of depletion in caregiving that doesn’t come from doing too much.
It comes from nothing ever feeling finished.

Without clear endings or a full exhale, everything carries over into the next moment.
Over time, your system stays “on” in a way that’s hard to interrupt.

That constant state is what drains you.

Right now, you don’t need to finish anything bigger or resolve what isn’t resolvable.
What matters is noticing where something has already ended.

A conversation that went as well as it could and is now over.
An appointment you made it through.
A moment that has passed.

When you pause long enough to let your body register that part is done, you’re not forcing closure.
You’re recognizing it.

And each time your system can register that, even within something ongoing, it gives a small amount of energy back.

That’s how you stop some of the drain.
