Fitch Ratings recently released to the public its most recent Rating Action for Saint John’s Communities, Inc. This rating is an independent measure of Saint John’s ability to repay its debt & interest and is critical to maintaining low cost of future capital for Saint John’s.
We are very pleased to inform you that Fitch has upgraded Saint John’s rating of the Series 2021B and Series 2022 bonds from ‘BBB, Outlook Positive’ to ‘BBB+, Outlook Stable’. This rating upgrade is a reflection of Saint John’s continuously strong campus-wide census and financial profile, with particular mention of Saint John’s financial metrics which continue to improve year-over-year. The strong & stable occupancy results, along with continued cost control and stabilized staffing & management, have directly impacted the positively-trending financial metrics Fitch relied upon in its Rating decision. It is also noteworthy that this rating upgrade restores Saint John’s debt rating to the pre-North Tower expansion rating of the same ‘BBB+, Outlook Stable’ (as anticipated, Saint John’s debt rating had declined from ‘BBB+’ to ‘BBB-‘ as a result of the additional borrowing required to complete the expansion).
