Why is airway health still controversial in 2026?

We got into exactly why that happens and what it’s costing patients when it does.

This one got a little spicy, you'll want to tune in:

Palate expansion isn't just for kids, but the approach looks very different after puberty.
Once the bones have fused, we have to work smarter.

That's where TADs come in: tiny titanium screws placed on the roof of the mouth that act as fixed anchor points, giving the expander the force it needs to move adult bone.

In kids, the palatal suture is still soft and responsive.
In adults, you need that extra precision.

Different tools, same goal!

Are you or your teenager dealing with crowded teeth, a narrow palate, mouth breathing, or chronic jaw tension?

Comment on what you’re seeing below, and let's talk about how this could work for you.

This is why collaborative care isn’t a bonus; it's the whole thing.

Dr. McIntosh and I geek out hard on this one, and honestly, it might be my favorite conversation we’ve had on the pod yet.

So many adults are walking around with an undiagnosed tongue tie that has quietly been affecting the way they breathe, sleep, eat, and carry tension in their bodies for their entire lives.

The difference one procedure makes is wild when you finally see it side by side.

It’s never too late to get to the root of it.

Quality sleep isn't a feeling; it's a biological process.

When something gets in the way of that process, no amount of early bedtimes will fix it.
mcintosh.ent joined us to break down what's actually happening when your child sleeps, and what it means when things go wrong.

Getting by isn’t the same as growing right.

The body keeps score, even when you don't notice it's keeping score.

What looks like a baby "doing fine" can quietly be reshaping the entire face, jaw, and airway from day one.

Compensation is smart, but smart isn't always optimal. We look at how your baby is breathing, feeding, and sleeping.

Slide into our DM to talk about it.

When it comes to matters of the airway, one provider’s opinion often doesn't catch everything. Asking more questions, seeing the right providers, and pushing a little harder is exactly what your kid needs.

Because nobody knows your child better than you do.

Got concerns about your child?

DM us and let's talk about what you're seeing.

It’s not a one-size-fits-all process:
Every child’s palate is different, so every treatment plan at Untethered is, too.

The number of turns on your child's expander is based on their anatomy, growth, and timeline.

Following current recommendations often means a slow-turning protocol, but this can vary based on your child’s age.
Also, does your child need a bottom expander? That, too, depends on their individual starting point.

And that individualized precision? That's exactly why the results last.

Choosing surgery isn't always the aggressive option; sometimes it's actually the kindest thing you can do for a body that has been compensating and struggling for years.

Waiting isn't always the safe choice; sometimes it costs you.

Dr. Katie and I got into exactly why in this episode:
