🦷 It Took a Community to Bring Back Her Smile 😁
A volunteer dental team. Generous supporters. One woman who never gave up hope.

For more than 10 years, a 63-year-old woman in our community lived without teeth.

Over time, the impact reached far beyond her smile. She lost confidence, avoided photographs, and often hid behind a mask. Eating became increasingly difficult, limiting her ability to maintain proper nutrition and support her overall health. Managing chronic conditions such as blood pressure, weight, and blood sugar became even more challenging.

Then she came to Bread of Healing Clinic. With the support of our volunteer dental team and the generous funding provided by the Wisconsin Dental Association and the Greater Milwaukee Dental Association, she received a full set of dentures that changed her life.

As her son's wedding approached, she had one simple wish: to smile freely in family photos and celebrate this milestone without feeling self-conscious.

Today, she can. She recently shared that we gave her much more than new teeth. We gave her back her smile, her confidence, her ability to enjoy meals again, and a piece of herself she thought was lost forever.

This is the power of accessible dental care. Oral health is health. It impacts nutrition, chronic disease management, self-esteem, and quality of life.

A night our team will never forget 🏀💚

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Zurn Elkay Water Solutions, our Bread of Healing Clinic staff and their families experienced a VIP suite at a Milwaukee Bucks game—complete with amazing food, great company, and unforgettable memories.

For many of our team members, this was their very first Bucks game… and what a way to experience it!

This night was more than just a game—it was a chance to celebrate the people who show up every day to care for our community with compassion and dedication.

This gathering is more than an introduction—it is a timely conversation about the growing health care crisis facing our community. With impending changes to the Affordable Care Act and significant Medicaid cuts, thousands of individuals and families are at risk of losing health coverage and experiencing dangerous gaps in life-saving care.
