Years of dedication and hard work have led to an important milestone for Providence Milwaukie Hospital.

The hospital's emergency department has achieved Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation from the American College of Emergency Physicians - ACEP, a distinction that recognizes excellence in meeting the unique needs of older adult patients through specialized care, processes and best practices.

Older adults account for about 35% of our adult ED visits, and that number continues to grow. This milestone reflects a deep commitment to improving safety, outcomes and the overall experience for this population.

This achievement was made possible by collaboration across emergency services, senior health, physicians, nurses and interdisciplinary teams — all working together to deliver more age-friendly care.

We’re proud of this progress and grateful to the teams who continue advancing care for the communities we serve.
