🚲 **A Reminder About E-Bikes & Motorized Bikes** 🚲

The City of Minden has recently noticed an increase in children riding e-bikes and motorized bikes throughout town, including on our Main Highway going through town. We love seeing kids outside enjoying the summer, but we also want to remind everyone that safety must come first.

Parents, please take a few minutes to talk with your children about riding safely and following the rules of the road. While many young riders are having fun, motorists may not always see them, especially on busy streets and highways.

Please remember:
• Wear a properly fitted helmet.
• Obey all stop signs and traffic signs.
• Ride in the same direction as traffic.
• Stay alert and avoid distractions.
• Be especially cautious when riding near the Main Highway and other streets with heavier traffic and farm equipment.

**Iowa law distinguishes between low-speed electric bicycles and higher-powered motorized bikes.** Low-speed e-bikes that meet the state's definition are generally permitted to operate like bicycles and must follow the rules of the road. However, **many higher-powered electric dirt bikes and motorized bikes may be legally classified as mopeds or motorcycles**, which can require registration, insurance, and a valid driver's license or permit to operate on public roadways.

Our goal is not to discourage kids from riding—it's to help ensure everyone gets home safely. We encourage parents to know what type of bike their child is riding, review Iowa's requirements, and remind them to ride responsibly.

🚧 **Sanitary Sewer Improvement Work Next Week** 🚧

The City of Minden will be completing **slip lining work on a portion of the sanitary sewer system next week, Monday through Friday.** This project is part of our ongoing efforts to maintain and improve our sewer infrastructure.

During this process, residents located along the marked sewer line may notice some temporary changes as the work is being completed. While issues are **not expected**, there is a small possibility of temporary sewer-related disturbances. As a precaution, residents in the affected areas are encouraged to:

✅ Keep toilet seats closed during the work period
✅ Limit unnecessary flushing when crews are actively working in the area

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete this important improvement project. Thank you for helping us continue to maintain a reliable sewer system for our community!

A heartfelt thank you to Habitat for Humanity for giving our City Hall a beautiful new look! The blue paint really highlights the building's beautiful architecture and makes this historic landmark shine.

The timing couldn't be better as we prepare to celebrate our 150+1 anniversary. We're so grateful to everyone who volunteered their time and talents to help make our City Hall look its best for this special milestone.
