September is Su***de Prevention & Awareness Month
A safety plan is a personalized, written guide for responding when distress increases. It is usually developed with a counselor or health care professional.

The plan should reflect the individual’s circumstances and preferences. It can be kept in an accessible place, such as near the phone, in a wallet or with other important health information. With the older adult’s permission, a family member or caregiver can learn the plan and help carry out the agreed-upon steps.

KCHS Senior Life Solutions supports older adults experiencing depression, anxiety, or loneliness. Starting the conversation can be the first step toward feeling better.

Mark your calendar! Something new is coming to KCHS!

On Saturday, September 26, we’re bringing the community together for Free to Move, Safe to Groove: KCHS Community Day!

Bring the whole family for a morning packed with fun, activities, health and safety information, giveaways, Touch-a-Truck, face painting, a coffee trailer and plenty more. Then grab lunch on us — we’ll be serving a FREE community lunch from 11:30 AM–1:00 PM!

Community Day runs from 9 AM–1 PM, following the Move & Groove 5K and One Mile Fun Run. Come for the race, come for Community Day, or better yet, make a day of it!

Grief can affect people in many ways. It may show up as sadness, fatigue, changes in sleep, loss of interest, or difficulty finding comfort in familiar routines.

For older adults, grief may be connected to the loss of a spouse, friend, independence, health, or a long-held role in life. These experiences deserve care, patience, and support.

Talking with others in a supportive setting can help older adults process what they are experiencing and build coping skills for the days ahead.
KCHS Senior Life Solutions supports older adults experiencing grief, depression, anxiety and life changes through outpatient mental health services, including group therapy, individual therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management.
You do not have to carry grief alone. Support is available.
