NYU Langone Health recently joined the Nassau County Office of Minority Affairs for its first annual Black Family Health Expo at Eisenhower Park.

The event brought together families from across Nassau County for a day of health education, community resources, entertainment, food, and cultural celebration. Our Department of Emergency Medical Services, Nassau Division, provided CPR and Stop the Bleed training to help attendees build lifesaving skills and prepare for emergencies. Staff from NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island also shared information and resources on women's health, nutrition, and wound care.

We’re proud to partner with our local elected officials and community leaders throughout Nassau County on events like this. We were grateful to be joined by Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jennifer DeSena and Nassau County Deputy County Executive Anissa Moore.

We’re continuing to expand access to expert specialty and surgical care in Suffolk County with the opening of NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Patchogue!

The new 54,000-square-foot center—located at 196 East Main Street in downtown Patchogue on the site of the former Burlington Coat Factory building—features six state-of-the-art operating rooms and multispecialty physician practices, offering surgical services including orthopedics, urology, general surgery, gynecology, plastic surgery, hand surgery, podiatry, and pain management.

This latest opening reflects our continued investment in expanding healthcare access across Long Island, following our recent announcement of plans to build a world-class academic medical center in Melville and ahead of the opening of an ambulatory surgery center in Manhasset later this year.

“This location provides our patients in Suffolk County with even greater access to expert clinicians and the seamless, top-quality care experience that defines NYU Langone,” said Alec C. After welcoming her first child at NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital in Manhattan, Maria McCallen and her family moved to Long Island. When she became pregnant again shortly after, she knew she wanted the same level of care. And this time she chose NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, just 15 minutes from home.

As part of its comprehensive strategy to expand access to the highest-quality care across Long Island, NYU Langone Health today announced plans to build a world-class, state-of-the-art academic medical center in Melville, near the border of Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

The new campus will include a modern hospital with more than 500 private inpatient rooms, more than 70 emergency department bays, and advanced operating and procedure suites with the latest diagnostic imaging capabilities. Reflecting NYU Langone’s integrated approach to healthcare, the site will also include the tuition-free NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine and space to conduct leading scientific research. A significant ambulatory footprint around the new campus will further enhance access to comprehensive outpatient care. The multiyear project is subject to extensive state and local approvals.

The new Melville campus will be located in the Town of Huntington, in western Suffolk County. On May 21, NYU Langone completed its purchase of a 45-acre parcel at the Huntington Quadrangle in Melville, just southeast of where the Long Island Expressway meets New York State Route 110, at a total cost of $135.5 million.

NYU Langone Health recently joined New York State Assembly Member Michaelle Solages, Nassau County Legislators Carrié Solages and Cynthia Nuñez, and The Diana Sanon Organization at the Elmont Community Health Fair to help connect local residents with healthcare resources and support services.

Our teams offered free blood pressure screenings, led CPR training, and connected with attendees about services including diabetes education, nutrition counseling, and NYU Langone’s community-based programs. More than 500 community members stopped by throughout the day.

Did you know Suffolk County has the highest annual number of melanoma cases in New York State, according to the National Cancer Institute? During Skin Cancer Awareness Month, there’s no better time to get screened.

NYU Langone Health is partnering with The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Destination Healthy Skin program to bring free skin cancer screenings directly to the community. Visit one of our two Suffolk County locations this weekend for a complimentary full-body skin exam, plus educational resources and sun protection products.

Screenings are led by Dr. Mario Lacouture, chief of dermatology at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, and take about 10 minutes.
