As our Possum Kingdom community continues to navigate a difficult week, we want to share an important update from Possum Kingdom Family Health.

Possum Kingdom Family Health remains closed today, August 27, due to road closures in the area that are preventing our staff from safely reaching the clinic. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our patients as conditions continue to change.

Tomorrow, August 28, is also scheduled to be Joshua West, FNP’s last day with Possum Kingdom Family Health.

Josh has cared for so many patients and families during his years at the clinic and has built relationships that extend far beyond its walls. We are incredibly grateful for the care, dedication and personality he has brought to the Possum Kingdom community, and we wish him all the best in what comes next.

As Josh moves on, Lindsey Maly, FNP-C, will become a regular part of the Possum Kingdom Family Health team.

Lindsey joined PPGH in March and may already be a familiar face to many of our patients. She has spent time caring for patients at Possum Kingdom Family Health over the past few months, and we look forward to our patients and families getting to know her even better.

We know this has been an incredibly difficult week for our friends and neighbors throughout the Possum Kingdom and Graford communities. Please continue to stay safe, follow guidance from local emergency officials and take care of one another.

Possum Kingdom Family Health will be closed today, August 26, due to the ongoing Ross Fire and road closures in the area that are preventing our staff from safely reaching the clinic.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we put the safety of our staff and community first.

Please stay safe, avoid closed roads and continue to follow guidance from local emergency officials as conditions change.

Our thoughts remain with everyone impacted by the fire and with the firefighters, first responders and emergency personnel working to protect our communities.

We appreciate anything you can do! Please pray this ends soon!

Our thoughts are with our Possum Kingdom, Graford and surrounding communities as the Ross Fire continues to impact our area.

We know this is a stressful and uncertain time for many of our neighbors, especially those who have been asked to evacuate or are closely watching conditions.

Possum Kingdom Family Health is open today and operating during normal clinic hours. Patients with scheduled appointments may come as planned, as long as they can safely travel to the clinic. If you have questions about your appointment, please give the clinic a call.

We are incredibly thankful for the firefighters, first responders, emergency management teams and neighbors who have worked through the night and continue working today to protect our communities.

Please take care of yourselves and one another, stay alert and follow guidance from local emergency officials as conditions change.

For many students in high school, learning how to drive and passing the driving test to get their license is important to them. The independence of traveling where they need to go is exciting for them, but it can be stressful for the parents because of driving safety and uncertainty of what could happen out on the road. Here are some driving safety tips that can help:

You are a role model for your child. While you are driving, practice good behavior and eliminate distractions like cell phones so that your child can learn good habits.
Seat belts need to be buckled, both front seat and back seat occupants, for every car ride.
Discuss with your teen driver the driving expectations of what will not be tolerated and what family rules they need to understand.

We want everyone to be safe driving on the road, especially for our new learners. For more information about teen driving safety, be sure to check out these tips from Safe Kids Worldwide (https://www.safekids.org/sites/default/files/documents/gettin_ready_drive_safety_tips.pdf) and (https://www.safekids.org/tip/teen-driving-safety).
