Joanne Hardin

Joanne Hardin passed away August 27, 2026 at home surrounded by family. She was born December 23, 1956 in Oxnard, California. She lived a life centered around family, faith, love, laughter, and service to others. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love touched the lives of countless people.

Joanne was married to her best friend for almost 53 years, and their life together was a beautiful example of love, commitment, and family. Her greatest joy was the people she loved, and she leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love that will continue through the generations.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Martha Taylor. She is survived by her husband, Ricky Hardin; her daughters, Shawna Morris and husband Jomo, Jennifer Franklin and husband Charles, Pamela Boyd and husband Micah, and Nicole Nail and husband Bryan; her grandchildren, Brianna Whitley and husband Quin, Chandler Franklin and wife Lauren, Alyson Franklin and her fiancé Blake, Jonah Morris and his fiancé Olivia, Garrett Boyd, Peyton Randall, Briley Randall, Bella Franklin, Aubrye Randall, and Carter Boyd; her great-grandson, Rowan Randall; her siblings, Cherrie Higgins, Cathy Young and husband Gary, and David Taylor and wife Cindy; and many loving nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, September 3, 2026 at the Palo Pinto County Cowboy Church.

Joan Louise McDonald

Joan Louise McDonald, 78, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, in Mineral Wells, Texas.

Joan was born on December 2, 1947, in Winters, Texas, to Wilhelm and Christine Ahrens. She grew up on a West Texas farm alongside her two brothers, surrounded by dogs, chickens, barn cats, and plenty of livestock. It was there, from an early age, that Joan developed her lifelong love of growing things. She was never afraid of hard work, getting her hands dirty, or caring for something until it flourished.

Joan earned her degree in Elementary Education from San Angelo State University and devoted more than 50 years to serving the Mineral Wells community. She began by caring for children in her own home, then went on to teach second grade for nearly 30 years. Later, she served as a reading specialist and dyslexia specialist, helping countless children discover the confidence and joy that came from learning.

Her love for children extended beyond the classroom. Joan served faithfully at her church, leading the children's ministry while her own daughters were young. In her later years, she continued to serve children through Backpack Buddies, an organization supporting underprivileged children in the community. Caring for others was not simply something Joan did—it was a part of who she was.

Joan also had a creative and generous spirit. Her mother, a skilled seamstress, taught Joan to sew when she was a young girl, and Joan carried that gift throughout her life. She enjoyed making clothes for herself and her daughters, and after her daughters were grown, she discovered a deep love for quilting. Many babies born into the family and many families throughout Mineral Wells were blessed with one of Joan's snuggly, lovingly made quilts. Each one was a gift of warmth, time, creativity, and love.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Angela Matthews and Laci McDonald; her grandchildren, Aria McDonald, Shawn (wife-Andrea) McDonald; and her great-grandchildren, Reece and Mason. She is also lovingly remembered by her brothers, Ted (wife-Mary Beth) Ahrens, and Roger (wife-Elaine) Ahrens; her Uncle Herman Jr. (wife- Joyce) Ahrens; her Aunt Dorothy Gottschalk; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Joan leaves behind a legacy of love, service, creativity, and a life spent helping others grow. Her hands planted, taught, stitched, served, and nurtured-and her love touched generations.

Memorial and Fellowship will be at the Historic Lillian Peek Home Ec. Cottage, 215 N.W. 5th Ave., Mineral Wells TX 76067, on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will follow at 3:15 p.m. at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home.

Graveside Services will be at a later date at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Winters, TX.

William Clyde Bennett

William Clyde Bennett, a cherished soul known for his quick wit and warm smile, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 29, 2026. Born in Conroe, Texas, William's life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and a profound ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued.

The son of the late Norma Jean Minnier and Harry Minnier, William was predeceased by his beloved parents, as well as Thomas Bennett, Barbra Johnson, Desie Bennett, and Nancy Robertson. His legacy of love and laughter lives on through his sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie and Chuck Murphy of Mineral Wells, Texas, and a multitude of nieces and nephews whom he adored deeply.

William's presence was a joyful light in the lives of those who knew him. He had a remarkable gift for storytelling, always ready with a joke to bring a smile to the faces of his friends and family. His kindness and generosity were the hallmarks of a life that touched so many. He loved his nieces and nephews dearly, finding immense joy in their company and delighting in their achievements.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the caregivers who supported William with compassion and dedication. They especially wish to thank Gentiva Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness, embracing them as part of the family during challenging times.

A service to celebrate William's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in William's memory to a charity of your choice.

On behalf of the family, we express our deepest appreciation to everyone who offered their support, whether through time or finances. Your generosity and love have been a source of comfort and strength, and for that, we are eternally grateful.

William Clyde Bennett will always be remembered for the joy he brought to the world and the warmth he shared with everyone he met. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Dorothy Coez Spurlock

Dorothy Coez Spurlock passed away August 27, 2026 in Mineral Wells. She was born October 17, 1929 in Haskell, Tx.

Dorothy worked as a Secretary of Travis Elementary and Houston Elementary of Mineral Wells ISD for many years.

She loved sewing, quilting and fabric. Dorothy was still sewing until her death and enjoyed giving her family gifts she had sewn. She also loved going to thrift shops, looking for depression glasses and dishes, with her family. She enjoyed camping and being outside.

Dorothy loved her family fiercely. Her home was always open to family, friends, and those who needed a little help. She had the kindest heart to all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Harold Spurlock; her sons, Mike Spurlock, Allan Spurlock, Ricky Spurlock, and Sammy Spurlock; her parents, Samuel and Dorothy Putman; and her siblings, Buddy Putman, Faye Smith, Billy Putman, Betty Mahaffey.

Survivors include her youngest son, Thomas Spurlock and wife Stacy; daughter-in-law, Becky Spurlock, wife of Sammy Spurlock; grandchildren, John Spurlock and wife Ticima, Michael Keith Spurlock and wife Dusty, Jeremy Spurlock and wife Rachel, Shelley Spurlock, Zach Spurlock, Micah Spurlock, Raina Mullen, Brandon Williamson, special German grandson Volker Neef; 24 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; 1 great-great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. Dorothy also leaves behind many other kids who called her grandma along the way.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2026 at Southside Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Holders Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Beyond Faith Hospice.

Jimmy Wayne Harrison

Jimmy Wayne Harrison, 82 yrs old of Mineral Wells, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026. Jimmy (Jay) was born January 18, 1944 in Evansville, Indiana to John A Harrison of Oran, Texas and Dorothy Tanner Harrison of Brock, Texas.

He was a proud graduate of Mineral Wells High School. During High School he was in the DE (Distributed Education) program and worked at Cole's House of Flowers making flower arrangements and delivering flowers. OD Cole taught him about greenhouses and that he could grow anything.

Jimmy spent more than 25 years working as a radio disc jockey at several radio stations. KORC in Mineral Well, Tx, KZFM and Dialing For Dollars TV host in Corpus Christi, Tx, KAHU broadcast engineer in Oahu, Hawaii. Sharing his voice, personality and knowledge with listeners throughout his career. He also worked as a very successful Real Estate agent for Show Case Properties in Mineral Wells, Texas.

Jimmy was known for his gift of storytelling and could always be counted on to have a story to share. He had a deep love of Hawaii, animals, plants and the outdoors, and he found joy in the simple experiences and adventures that life had to offer.

Jimmy is survived by his brother, Billy Harrison of Valrico, Florida; his daughters, Tesa Harrison and Sadie Harrison, both of Mineral Wells, Texas; and his grandchildren, Justice Cloney and wife Haley Bird, Syd Burgess, and Ira and Karis Grimm; great granddaughter, Lily Grimm; and 9 nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his father, John A Harrison; his mother, Dorothy Tanner Harrison; his brother, Jerry Harrison; and his sister, Johnetta Barnes.

Jimmy leaves behind a lifetime of stories, memories, and the love of those who knew him. Although his voice is quiet now, the stories he shared and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
