PEOPLE DIE OF INFLUENZA. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS EVERY YEAR.

But we talk just about coronavirus. Flu is everywhere and anybody can catch it. Fortunatelly, it doesn`t mean that the disease will be severe. If the immune system is strong, a person will have symptoms for few days and recover.

However, everybody should now how to prevent this nasty infection and how to treat it.
Lets get started.

PREVENTION:
🔹Avoid contact with sick people. There is no need to kiss and hug them. At least, while they are ill.
🔹Wash you hands properly. Sounds easy and obvious. We all know this rule from the childhood. Nevertheless, it really works as the virus usually stays on the surfaces and we can catch it easily when we touch things around us.
🔹Get vaccinated. It is the most effective thing you can do to protect yourself from this disease. Vaccination doesn`t mean you will never get flu. It means that if you get flu, the symptoms will be much milder than they could have been.

Well, what to do if you already have flu?

TREATMENT:
🔹Rest, keep calm, stay at home.
🔹Drink plenty of water - it`s the best detoxication.
🔹Take paracetamol or ibuprofen if you have fever.

❗️DO NOT use antibiotics. They don`t treat flu. Flu is caused by virus, not bacteria.

💊Prompt treatment is recommended for people who have flu infection or suspected flu infection and who are at high risk of serious flu complications.

Antiviral drugs should be started within first 2 days of getting sick.

There are four FDA-approved antiviral drugs recommended by CDC to treat flu.
•oseltamivir phosphate (available as a generic version or under the trade name Tamiflu®),
•zanamivir (trade name Relenza®)
•peramivir (trade name Rapivab®), and
•baloxavir marboxil (trade name Xofluza®) .

✅Hope it helps. Stay healthy and comment if you have any questions.

EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THIS 4 LETTERS.

Stroke takes thousands of live every day. You can meet a person experiencing stroke anywhere. And you can be the only person to recognise the catastrohpe and act.

A stroke comes on when your https://www.webmd.com/brain/picture-of-the-brain doesn't get the https://www.webmd.com/heart/anatomy-picture-of-blood and oxygen it needs. That could be due to a clot, known as an ischemic stroke. Or it can happen with a burst blood vessel, as with a hemorrhagic stroke.
No matter which one it is, it's not long before brain cells start to die. Once a stroke begins, you lose almost 2 million brain cells every minute.

During a stroke, every minute counts! Fast treatment can lessen the brain damage that stroke can cause.

By learning and sharing the F.A.S.T. warning signs you might save a life from a stroke.

F - face drooping. One side of the face might droop. Ask a person to smile, it will be impossible to do it evenly.
A - arm weakness. Ask a person to raise both arms. He might not do it. One arm can drift downward.
S - speech might be slurred. Ask a person to say something, even the simplest sentence. He might have difficulties with it.
T - time to call an ambulance. If a person shows any of these symptoms, even if the symptoms go away, call an ambulance and get them to the hospital immediately.

You have just 3 hours to act while the effects of stroke can be reversed.

P.S. What about the first aid? I will tell it in the next post. Save and share this post with your friends and loved ones.

CORONAVIRUS! TO PANIC OR NOT?

News about the Chinese coronavirus has spread around the world. But should we really panic?
Let me remind you about coronoviruses step by step.

Coronoviruses are well known group of viruses which are responsible for the respiratory tract infections.

Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. Well, as you see, it can be easily confused with influenza. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.

WHAT HAPPENED IN CHINA?
All started at an animal market in Wuhan, a huge Chinese megacity. The infection started spreading around, first from animals to people. Now from people to people. When experts examined the organism’s genetic code, they found a sequence that was entirely new to science. That means many people have not had a chance to develop sufficient natural immunity to this coronavirus. In people who have weaker immune system - elderly and children for example, it can cause severe pneumonia.

IS THERE ANY MEDICATION?
No, there is no any specific medicine against the virus. Just symptomatic treatment.

IS THERE A VACCINE?
Unfortunately, not. There isn`t. The process of making vaccines is extremely expensive and time consuming. There was no need to make the vaccine before this Chinese case. Now lots of scientists around the world are trying to make it.

IS THERE ANY PREVENTION?
Yes, quite easy general precautions include regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, thoroughly cooking meat and eggs. Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.

SO SHOULD WE PANIC? NO!
The infection is spreading around but there is not time to panic yet. There are many mild cases so don`t worry, wash your hands and be happy!

Miriads of people take different kinds of medicine. We all know what to take if we have a headache, stomachache, flu or diarrhea. We live longer and healthier because of this colourful rainbow of drugs.
But no matter if we go to grab some over the counter medicines of we`ve got a recepe from a doctor there are highly important things that can be left unnoticed. Even the best doctors can simply forget to tell you about the food that should be avoided while taking certain drugs.

Lets fly through the list of some of them. Today I`ll cover just 3 of them. There will be more later. ⠀

1️⃣Warfarin - one of the most common anticoagulant drugs - it prevents clotting of the blood. Do you know that you should be extremely careful while eating green leaves and vegetables and taking these medicines. The thing is in Vitamin K. Warfarin blocks it in the boy preventing clots. If you take enormous amounts of vitamin K with spinach or kale or brokkoli you`ll simply diminish its effectiveness.⠀

2️⃣Statins - are must have if you have high cholesterol levels. And you take them for the life term. Never mix it with grapefruit or grapefruit juice. It blocks the ferment which metabolizes the drug so its concentration gets much higher. So there will be a high risk of side effects.⠀

3️⃣Antibiotics tetracyclin and ciprofloxacin should never be taken with dairy products. The calcium in such foods binds to the antibiotics in the stomach and upper small intestine to form an insoluble compound. So the drugs cannot work properly.⠀

Here is the list. Hope it was helpful. Save the post and never forget about these interactions. @ Mayo Clinic Rochester MN

Flu time has come 🤧😷
So if you still feel alright and want to protect yourself, better go and do a flu shot 💉

Don’t be afraid of this vaccine. It’s been confirmed long ago that it saves lives.
Recent studies show that flu vaccination reduces the risk of flu illness by between 40% and 60%.
Side Effects are quite rare but having done this vaccine, even if you get flu, the disease will be mild and less dangerous. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

One of the most important things is that getting vaccinated, you protect people who can’t get the flu shot, including those who are more vulnerable to serious flu illness, like babies and young children, older people, and people with certain chronic health conditions.

Don’t be afraid of the vaccines! Use the advantages of science 🧪
