Future You Has Some Notes

Future You would like to say:

"Please drink some water."
"You could answer that email tomorrow."
"That boundary was a really good idea."
"Thanks for finally making that appointment."
"And seriously... stop apologizing for existing."

Future You isn't asking you to become perfect.

Just a little kinder to yourself than yesterday.

We're pretty sure Present You deserves that.

What's one thing Future You would thank Present You for?

Congratulations!

You survived...

✔ the group text that somehow produced 143 unread messages.
✔ forgetting why you opened the refrigerator.
✔ trying to remember if you already took your medication.
✔ answering "You too!" when the server said "Enjoy your meal."
✔ being a person.

That's actually a lot.

As we head into fall, remember:
You don't have to carry every expectation, every mistake, or every "should" into the next season.

What's one thing you're officially leaving in summer?

Your Inner Critic Needs a Hobby

Your inner critic:
"You should be doing more."
"You should have figured this out already."
"Everyone else has it together."

Respectfully...

Your inner critic is an unreliable narrator.
Maybe today isn't about becoming a whole new person.
Maybe today is about eating lunch.

Honestly, that might be enough.

Finish this sentence: Today I successfully... (and, yes, "breathed in and out" counts!)

If you've ever said "I don't have anything to talk about," this one's for you.

Therapist:
"So... what's been on your mind lately?"

Me:
"I don't really have anything to talk about."

Thirty-seven minutes later...

"...and that's why I think that interaction from seventh grade fundamentally changed me as a person."

Brains are weird.

We love them anyway.

Things Your Therapist Is Probably Not Judging You For

Showing up late.

Crying.

Not crying.

Talking too much.

Not knowing what to talk about.

Forgetting what you wanted to say.

Saying, "This is probably weird..."
Spoiler: it usually isn't.

Therapists have heard a lot.

They're much more interested in helping you understand yourself than grading your performance.

Good news: there isn't one.

What's something you've worried about saying in therapy?

You Don't Have to Hit Rock Bottom

There's a persistent rumor that therapy is only for people whose lives are actively on fire.

We'd like to formally start a petition to retire that rumor.

You don't wait until your phone is at 1% to think, "Hmm... maybe I should find a charger."

(Okay... some of us do. But we know we shouldn't.)

Mental health works the same way.

Therapy isn't just about surviving crises. It's about understanding yourself, navigating relationships, building healthier patterns, and making life a little easier to live.

Support doesn't require an emergency.

What's something you do before it becomes a problem?

Three Questions for August

Before we sprint into fall, let's pause for about thirty seconds.

Ask yourself:
• What gave me energy this summer?
• What drained me?
• What do I want to carry into the next season?

No gold stars.
No perfect answers.
Just curiosity.

Sometimes the smallest moments teach us the most about what we actually need.

What's one thing about summer you want to bring with you into fall?

Even Good Change Can Feel Hard

Starting school.
A new job.
Moving.
Kids heading back to class.
A different schedule.

Good changes are still changes.

Your nervous system doesn't always distinguish between "I'm excited!" and "Everything is different now!" Sometimes it just notices that life feels unfamiliar.

If you're feeling emotional, scattered, anxious, or tired during a transition, that doesn't mean you're doing it wrong.

It means you're human.

Give yourself a little grace while your brain catches up with your calendar.

If you're in a season of transition, know you're not the only one.

Build a Routine That Fits YOU

Social media would have us believe that wellness starts with a 5:00 a.m. wake-up, green juice, meditation, journaling, cold plunge, workout, and homemade protein pancakes.

We're exhausted just typing that.

A supportive routine doesn't have to be impressive.

Maybe it's taking your medication.
Drinking water before your third coffee.
Walking around the block.
Actually eating lunch.
Going to bed thirty minutes earlier.

Small things count.

Build a routine that supports your life—not someone else's highlight reel.

What's one small habit that helps you feel grounded?

Summer Brain

Is anyone else living in that strange August time warp where every day feels vaguely like... Tuesday?

You check the calendar three times.

You forget what month it is.

You start telling a story and immediately forget why you walked into the kitchen.

We're calling it Summer Brain.

Whether your schedule has completely disappeared or you're already gearing up for fall, be gentle with yourself. Transition seasons can leave all of us feeling a little untethered.

Be honest—what day did you think it was today?
