LGBTQIATS+ youth deserve mental health professionals who are prepared to provide informed, affirming, and culturally responsive care.

Recent national data found that 36% of LGBTQ+ young people seriously considered su***de in the past year, including 40% of transgender and nonbinary young people. One in ten reported a su***de attempt.

This September, during Su***de Prevention Month, The Healing Project of MN is hosting JAC Stringer for Integral Mental Health Skills for Serving LGBTQIATS+ Youth, a two-hour virtual professional development training.

Attendees will explore foundational language, cultural competency, tools for macro and micro practice, and strategies for becoming stronger allies to LGBTQIATS+ youth.

Early bird pricing ends August 14.

Integral Mental Health Skills for Serving LGBTQIATS+ Youth
Thursday, September 17, 2026 | 9:30–11:30 a.m. CT | Virtual

LGBTQIATS+ youth are currently living in a state of severe cultural violence, with a drastic increase in mental health symptoms and suicidality. These threats caused by the global political climate make informed, empowering mental healthcare for LGBTQIATS+ youth more critical than ever.

Continuing education approval through the Minnesota Board of Social Work is currently pending. All participants who attend the full training will receive a certificate documenting instructional hours completed.

A New Look for a Growing Organization

Over the past few years, The Healing Project of MN has grown in ways we never imagined. As we've expanded our programs, partnerships, and community impact, we wanted a logo that better reflects who we are today.

While our look has changed, our commitment remains the same: advancing mental wellness, strengthening communities, and increasing access to behavioral health services across Minnesota.

Our new logo represents more than a new look—it reflects the continued growth and evolution of The Healing Project of MN. As our organization continues to grow, we're excited to share new initiatives, partnerships, and opportunities in the months ahead.

To stay connected, subscribe to The Counseling Couch, our monthly e-newsletter featuring mental wellness resources, educational content, community updates, and upcoming events and opportunities. Visit our website to sign up: www.thehealingprojectmn.org

Juneteenth is more than a day of remembrance, celebration, and reflection on the enduring pursuit of freedom, justice, and equity. It is an opportunity to recognize how history continues to shape our communities and to recommit ourselves to fostering healing, belonging, and opportunity for all.

As a trauma-informed mental health agency, we recognize that healing does not occur in isolation. Our individual and collective well-being is shaped by the systems, histories, and communities that surround us.

In observance of Juneteenth, The Healing Project of MN will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026. We encourage our community to take time to reflect on the significance of this day and the ongoing work of building a more just and equitable future.

We will reopen for regular services on Monday, June 22.

Yesterday, we had the honor of hosting a mindful art event for youth at Washington County Library - Oakdale in recognition of National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day. 🎨

Through painting, creativity, and connection, youth were given a space to slow down, express themselves, and focus on emotional wellness in a supportive community environment.
Mental health conversations with young people matter — and creating spaces where they feel safe, seen, and empowered matters even more.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event meaningful for our community. 💙
