Hi I’m Nicholas Zimet, the founder of Lake Acupuncture, LLC. We have been serving the community for 15 years with a clinic providing mindful and excellent care to the metro. We focus a lot on treating chronic pain, PTSD, and complex conditions that affect both the mind and body together. It has been such a joy and privilege to help over 20 thousand of your family, neighbors, and friends to work through their issues and thrive again. Maybe you’ve never heard of us, and that could be because we do not advertise, we do not oversell ourselves on social media; instead we have thrived solely on word of mouth referrals from patients and their doctors that trust us to take care of one another. This has also let us give back to the community, not just with care but with donating to charities and non profits all around us. Normally this is a joyful balance but since Operation Metro Surge things have changed.

The majority of our patients are from the local neighborhoods; huge numbers of immigrants, refugees, and people of color are our daily customers. So many of these people are now the target of ICE. We have seen our patients terrorized, fearful of going out for groceries, skipping medical care, and the atmosphere on Lake Street has changed from one of hope, renewal, and growth to one of fear and oppression. Our business, like that of our neighbors here, is suffering. With the presence of ICE since January we have lost a shocking amount of business due to fear and it is hurting our spirit to see so much suffering.

Not all is grim though! We are so grateful to all of the Minnesotans that are showing up for their neighbors, who are taking a stand by acts of kindness and presence. We want to show our gratitude to those who are helping, to all those who volunteer to bring meals, to all who protest, to all who write their legislators, to all who took the time to show their neighbors that they give a damn!

We want to give thanks back to the community with what we have a lot of-experience taking care of people. It takes a lot to put yourselves out there and we want to take care of you in turn. We are offering for all who are volunteering to say come in and we will care for you in turn. Maybe you need a stress break, want to calm anxiety, maybe you just want to take advantage to try something new to break the cycle of doom scrolling on your phone. We want to be there for you as you have been there for the community.

It might not fix all the damage done but we believe in giving back to those who are giving to the community of MN.

Hey look we are on TV tonight!

Nearly a dozen businesses along Lake Street damaged or in various ways impacted by the unrest following George Floyd's death have a dose of help easing some of their pain.

We are a community of diverse peoples and will not tolerate hate.

AOMA recently put it so well that I paraphrase here:
"We’ve all dealt with so much in the last 12 months, a pandemic, gripping winter storms, and sadly and perhaps with most impact have been continued incidents of discrimination, racism, and quite frankly misguided and unfounded hatred. All this leaving most of us at best confused, at worst filled with worry and anxiety about our safety (physical and emotional) and the safety of those we love.

Quite frankly although devastating, the pandemic is a much less complicated issue to deal with as long as we all take the recommended safety precautions. Dealing with racism and hatred is much more complex. The roots of hate and prejudice are as complex and as varied as we are as humans. I do though gain hope and solace knowing that the roots of truth, love, understanding and commitment to inclusion are strong. These are the forces needed to begin the journey of ending racism, prejudice, and hatred.


The recent shootings in Atlanta leave us all so very sad especially since it appears to be an act against the Asian community. For us at the clinic, these acts of violence and hatred against the Asian community strike very hard. As a community we can show solidarity in finding ways to advocate for social justice, anti-racism, anti-hatred. It starts with each of us. Our clinic represents the value of Chinese culture and heritage through Chinese Medicine. To all those of Asian descent and in particular Chinese descent, know that we value, respects, and stand with you. Any acts of racism or hatred against you or your loved ones are acts against the entire professional AOM community. We will continue to support all efforts to end racism and hatred in our country. We will do all we can to support efforts of Healing, Peace, and Love."

Dear Patients, Friends, and Family

Election week is upon us. The months leading up to this week, as well as the days and weeks to follow, have been, and may continue to be, challenging for many. Among us, we hold many passionate and diverse political views, and the differences between so many across the nation seem to be magnified this year. 2020 has not been an easy year for anyone. We have experienced a full gamut of emotions ranging from fear, uncertainty, anger, confusion, and disbelief to relief, gratitude, pride, collaboration, compassion, kindness, and joy.

Our clinic recognizes this may be another stressful time in a challenging year. We know this week will be filled with news that may cause unrest throughout the nation. As a clinic, we do take a stance on our values and promises, one of which is respect. As a community committed to preparing the next generation of health care we are committed to regarding each other’s feelings, rights, safety, and need for care and compassion. More than ever, we rely on our promises. We are united in purpose; earning one another’s trust and respectful of our differences.

As this week and the rest of the year unfolds, take care of yourselves. Be gentle and kind to one another. Stay safe and healthy. Use the resources available, including counseling, acupuncture, and faith communities. Lend a listening ear or a compassionate hand to those that may be feeling down.

An important new study from Harvard is demonstrating a greater insight into the what we already know: Acupuncture helps inflammation! (yes even cytokine storms as we see in acute illness). While there is a lot more to be done, I am always enthusiastic for the deeper understanding of what are doing!
