Following a recent combined obstetric hiatal hernia repair and partial fundoplication procedure, Dr. Christopher Macomber reached an impressive milestone: 2,000 cases performed on the da Vinci robotic platform.

Behind that number are thousands of patients who have benefited from a gentle approach to surgery that can mean smaller incisions, less pain and less time in the hospital.

Last Friday's Care Team Member and Community Open House exceeded all expectations, with more than 300 staff and guests (plus Minnesota United FC and Minnesota Aurora FC!) joining us to experience the next era of care firsthand.

Together, we shared the story behind this transformative new facility and how it was designed to bring innovation, expertise, and an exceptional patient experience under one roof.

Our second open house welcomed the clinicians who will soon care for patients in this remarkable new space. Designed with extensive input from our care teams, and guided by the needs of our patients, the center represents what can be achieved when experts come together with a shared purpose of making advanced care more accessible.

Open House 1/3 complete.

Last night, we had the opportunity to welcome donors, community leaders, care team members and friends of Abbott Northwestern Hospital for our Opening Celebration of the Richard M. Schulze Surgical and Critical Care Center.

This project represents an investment in the future of care for our community and reflects the dedication, vision and generosity of so many people. We are especially grateful to Richard M. Schulze and the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, along with the many donors and partners whose support helped make this possible.

But the celebration doesn't stop here. Join us on Friday, July 24 for our Community Open House; a time to tour the new building, enjoy refreshments and see how we're built for the next era of patient care.
