🚨 COMMUNITY WEATHER & AIR QUALITY ALERT 🚨
Minnesota, let’s look out for one another.
Due to wildfire smoke moving into our state, air quality has declined in many areas. Even if you can’t see the smoke, the air may still be unhealthy to breathe, especially for children, older adults, pregnant women, and anyone living with asthma, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions.
Here’s how we can protect ourselves and our community:
* 🌬️ Limit outdoor activities, especially strenuous exercise.
* 🏠 Keep windows and doors closed when possible.
* ❄️ If you’re using air conditioning, set it to recirculate to help keep smoke outside.
* 😷 If you must be outdoors for an extended period, consider wearing a well-fitted N95 mask.
* 💧 Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.
* ❤️ Check on your elders, neighbors, and loved ones who may need extra assistance.
* 🚗 If you’re driving, slow down if visibility is reduced because of smoke or haze.
* 🚨 If you experience chest pain, severe coughing, difficulty breathing, or worsening asthma symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
At 89.9 KMOJ – The People’s Station, we encourage everyone to stay informed, stay prepared, and most importantly, stay connected. Taking care of ourselves also means taking care of each other.
Let’s continue to show what community looks like. Stay safe, stay aware, and we’ll get through this together.
