"Gun violence is the greatest threat to children’s health – the number one killer of children in the U.S. since 2020. We cannot live in a world where children being shot is something we simply come to accept. Failure to protect kids is not an option. We must continue to lift up our collective voice for change."

Dr. Emily Chapman, president and CEO, writes more for Gun Violence Awareness Day on June 5. Read more at the link in our comments.

When Sofia went into early labor at 21 weeks, she and Julian rushed to the Twin Cities so their little miracle, Rendalisa, would have the expert care she needed at Children’s Minnesota.

Rendalisa was born shortly after her parents made it to Minnesota, weighing just over a pound. Due to premature birth, she spent the next 144 days in the NICU fighting lung disease, intestinal perforation and blood pressure concerns.

Today, Rendalisa is a strong 19-month-old, loves exploring and snacking. She is also walking and is meeting her developmental milestones exceptionally.💙 Watch her full story at the link in the comments.

The smoke from wildfires has become a frequent worry during the summer months, making it important for families to understand how to protect their kids when the air turns unhealthy. Below are some easy tips to keep in mind this summer.

⭐Stay inside: Keep windows and doors closed. Try to do outdoor things early in the day when the air is better.
⭐Use air conditioning: If you can, run your air conditioning instead of having your windows and doors open. Set it to “recirculate” so it doesn’t pull in outside air.
⭐Watch for alerts: Things can change quickly, so it’s best to keep an eye out for notices and alerts about the air quality.
⭐Clean indoor air: Use air purifiers if you can. Don’t burn wood or use strong-smelling paints or cleaners.
⭐In the car: Keep windows closed and use the air conditioning on re-circulate.
