Gut health has become one of the biggest topics in nutrition. But the differences between prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics — and what each one does — leave many people scratching their heads.

I was happy to contribute to this Good Housekeeping article by Lauren Manaker, where I joined fellow dietitians Jane Leverich and Sharniquia White to help explain the science behind each and how they work together to support digestive and overall health.

Three ‘biotics may sound similar, but they each have very different roles in your body.

Many of the foods people avoid for their bitter taste — like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and grapefruit — are actually packed with beneficial compounds that support digestion, metabolic health, inflammation regulation, and overall wellness.

I was happy to share my insights with for her recent article on the benefits of incorporating more bitter foods into your diet, along with practical cooking tips that help balance bitterness and make these foods more approachable.

Closing out Stress Awareness Month feeling grateful for the opportunities I had to lead webinars with on Mindfulness, Stress Management, Resilience, and Eating on the Go 🌿

Sharing practical tools and everyday strategies for balanced living and better mental health is always a powerful reminder that self-care isn’t a luxury—it’s essential. Even a few mindful moments can help us reset, feel more grounded, and show up as our best selves each day.

Take a moment to anchor yourself in your breath today—inhale, exhale, reset 🤍

Here’s to carrying these lessons forward beyond April.

These are actual quotes from my 16 year old as she tasted Fishwife’s Smoked Rainbow Trout. Thank you Fishwife for the delectable free samples!

Tinned fish is the most delicious, convenient way to add more healthy omega-3 fats and protein to your lunch, breakfast, snack, charcuterie board - or, apparently, your underground bunker. 🤷‍♀️

A recent study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that underweight adults over 80 who ate meat daily were more likely to reach age 100 than their vegetarian and vegan counterparts.

So, should we all be eating more meat to live longer?

I was glad to share my perspective in this excellent Food & Wine article by Andi Breitowich, which unpacks the takeaways from this provocative study and what it actually means for longevity.

A 20-year study followed more than 5,000 adults over 80 to see who reached 100. Along the way, researchers found that underweight participants who ate meat regularly were more likely to become centenarians. Still, experts say the bigger takeaway may be protein overall, not meat itself, with adequate...

There’s been lots of buzz about beef tallow since it was included in the newly released Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGAs) this month. As a foodie, I may cook with it occasionally for its rich flavor. But as a dietitian, I’m wary that it’s very high in saturated fat, which raises LDL cholesterol and may increase the risk of heart disease and cardiovascular events like heart attack and stroke. And with 6 grams of saturated fat per tablespoon (about 50% of its calories), using beef tallow may quickly push you over the 10% of total calories limit on saturated fat as outlined by the DGAs.

I was happy to chat with Kirsten Nunez, MS about whether beef tallow is actually healthy for Real Simple.

Dietitians break down the benefits and downsides of beef tallow, along with whether or not it should be part of a healthy diet.

I’m finally catching my breath after an incredible week! was ALL the things. From the pre-FNCE Indian Fusion cooking class and inspiring opening talk with to the fantastic closing session with and and everything in between, left my heart full and my mind invigorated. Thank you and so many others for hosting fabulous events, and brands like and for promoting healthy eating! For me, the best part of FNCE is always connecting with colleagues, most of whom I only get to see once a year. I’m already counting down the days until next year in San Antonio!!

Happy to chime in on the best frozen foods for lower blood pressure for Eating Well. (Spoiler — it's beets!) Kudos to Kelsey Kunik RDN for her great article!

Tasty, convenient frozen spinach, berries, edamame, beets, peas and salmon can make managing blood pressure a lot easier, according to dietitians.
