The book of James in the Bible is all about action. Much like exposure therapy in CBT, we work on taking active steps in living out what you believe or want to believe but just don't feel yet. (Acts of obedience are not always based on feeling).
In therapy, we work on taking the risk (or leap of faith) of feared consequences happening, and see what happens.
With time, positive consequences often follow: reduced fear-based beliefs, reduced anxious feelings. Or, at least being able to live out what is important to you despite fear! (Like David acting courageously)
As Christians we are not called to do what is easy, nor are we promised an easy life free of suffering. As a Christian psychologist, it's easy for me to implement this treatment because it aligns with my belief system. It doesn't mean the treatment itself is easy, though!
If you're ready to stop hiding and live the life you were meant (or called) to, reach out today.
