I've sat in two chairs: trauma therapist and reality TV production. Both taught me the same thing — when entertainment manufactures intimacy, consent needs real safeguards, not just good intentions.

In a recent interview with ABC Australia, I unpack the blurred lines in reality TV and how when we're not incredibly careful about how we craft these situations, there can be a big cost.

Swipe through for how I see it from both sides. 👉🏽

Something I see constantly in my work: people aren't just dealing with one thing.

They're carrying layers. Grief. Health challenges. Financial pressure. Family stress. Personal uncertainty. The emotional weight of a world that feels increasingly hard to make sense of.

When stress keeps compounding, hope doesn't disappear — it gets buried. Beneath exhaustion. Beneath overwhelm. Beneath the quiet effort of just getting through the day.

What if we offered ourselves — and each other — a little more compassion? Before asking "What's wrong with me?" or "What's wrong with them?" — what if we asked instead: "What might they be carrying?"

That one question can change everything.

Warrior of Determination
By: Me 🫶🏼

You are a warrior of determination.

Your well is not contaminated
with remnants of the past,
But with beauty and wisdom
Birthed by simply being alive.

Your power lies in the mountains and valleys you have traveled.

With each new path,
New meaning has been made
Both cautiously and with inhibition.
Filling that well with the sweetness of knowledge
Earned with each step.

Content with what has passed
And open to what is yet to come.

You are a warrior of determination.

You were never meant to do this alone. 💜

So many people are carrying fear, stress, and uncertainty in silence — and when that becomes chronic, the instinct is often to pull away from others. But isolation only deepens the weight.

Healing happens in moments of connection. It happens when someone checks in, shows up, or simply listens. It happens when we feel seen, safe, and supported — not just individually, but together.

Save this if you needed the reminder today. 🫶🏽

I'm honored to be featured in this interview discussing stress, trauma, resilience, community, and what helps people stay connected during difficult times.

One of the things I shared is that many people aren't carrying just one stressor right now. They're carrying layers.

Personal challenges, community concerns, uncertainty about the future, and the ongoing weight of what they're seeing and experiencing in the world around them.

When stress keeps building, hope can become harder to access. But that doesn't mean hope is gone.

Sometimes hope gets buried beneath exhaustion, grief, fear, uncertainty, or simply carrying too much for too long. What many people need is not more pressure to "stay positive," but more support, more connection, and more space to process what they're carrying.

I continue to believe that healing is possible when people feel seen, supported, and less alone. I see it every day in the people I work with, in communities showing up for one another, and in the small moments of connection that remind us of our shared humanity.

Thank you for reading and for being part of the conversation.

This week! I’m honored to be teaching at the and leading a 6-hour immersive master class on Saturday, May 30.

This training explores how expressive arts therapy can support people navigating grief, identity disruption, illness, trauma, and major life transitions. Through drawing, movement, storytelling, sound, symbolic work, and ritual, we’ll look at how creative processes can help restore connection, meaning, and emotional integration when experiences feel difficult to put into words. Participants will engage in hands-on expressive work while learning practical, transferable clinical interventions focused on pacing, regulation, emotional safety, and ethical integration of the arts into clinical practice.

I’m looking forward to sharing this space and conversation with fellow clinicians and helping professionals!

You can register for the summit at the link in my bio. 🔗

Medical trauma doesn’t always look like trauma from the outside.

Even after medical recovery, there can be invisible losses — of the body you trusted, your sense of identity, or the way life used to feel predictable. This is where medical trauma and ambiguous loss often overlap. It’s not uncommon to feel “fine” and not fine at the same time. Relief and grief can exist together.

Naming this helps make space for what’s often unseen, and supports a more complete understanding of healing.

More from my conversation on The Beauty in You Podcast with .👇🏽

Acceptance can become a catalyst in healing — not as giving up, but as allowing yourself to stop fighting what has already happened so meaning can begin to form. Grief often asks us to make sense of what we’ve experienced in order to find a way forward, even when there’s no clear roadmap.

I'm honored to be teaching a 6-hour immersive master class at the Expressive Therapies Summit on Saturday, May 30. And I'd love for you to join me.

Grief, identity disruption, illness, trauma, and life transitions can fragment a person’s inner and outer world. While adversity can shake our foundation, expressive arts therapy offers a powerful pathway to restore coherence, expand capacity, and foster transformation. Expressive arts modalities — drawing, movement, sound, symbolic play, storytelling, and ritual — uniquely activate the meaning-making, integrative processes that allow this growth to unfold.

Participants will engage in hands-on art making, learn transferable clinical interventions, and practice session sequencing, pacing, and closure. Emphasis is placed on creative safety, emotional containment, diversity in grief expression, and ethical integration of the arts. Clinicians will leave with ready-to-implement expressive arts therapy techniques, creative grief frameworks, and ways to guide clients toward transformation and inner strength through art-based processes.
